Another part should be modification: on ebay you can buy really cheap pedals. For example this week I bought a Ken-Multi/monarch Distortion for Eur 8,50 plus shipment. This boxes are not so bad. For example the PSK SDS-2, SDS-3 or SDS-5 (seems to be now the roque SDS-5 can be easily be modified to be a Rat. They put in this unit since years a 470 Ohm instead of the 47 Ohm resistor in the...
I recently bought a new DOD 250 and I want to put in a two position switch for the clipping section:
position 1: two 1N34A diodes
position 2: two LEDs
Apart from being able to solder, I am totally new to this stuff.
What kind of switch would I need and how would I wire this? I'm sure there cant be too much to it but I would surely appreciate some guidance. Thanks for the help in advance.
Anyone have mod info for these guys? Arion Stereo Chorus IS it possible to mod the sch-z to sch-1 spec? Or is there other mods for the z? can only find info for the sch-1
I am new here, and very new to modding pedals. Real cool site here though.
Anyway I was wondering if the Keeley mod on the DD-3 would also work for the Behringer DD400. I am talking about the effects loop mod that turns the direct out jack into an effects loop for the repeats, not the mod to make it sound analogy. Has anyone done this?
I'm following these instructions, but when I hook up the pedal, I only get a loud hum when engaged and silence when disengaged. I didn't understand where to solder the in and out jacks and power.
So I have the tip of input to 3dpt jack. The tip of the out to another lug on the 3 dpt. Sleeve of both i/o jacks to the ground which is on the power jack. Then what he labels as 9+ I have going to the other lug on the power jack. And what he labels as ground going to the same lug that the i/o jacks...
One of my projects I am going to do over the holidays is to re-house my FAB Flanger. I basically got the pedal for free, and it doesn't sound bad at all. I just placed my order for everything I need from pedalpartsplus.com so I should be all set.
I can't find a schematic for this pedal, does anyone know if one has been posted or not?
When I wire it for true bypass, how can I set it so it is always on ? I am guessing that I remove the small momentary switch. do I just then need to wire a...
Hi,
I'm playing bass guitar and bought a Behringer VT999, which afaik is pretty easy to mod for the frequencies of the bass (basically removing the bass suck it has).
So I want to change the input cap to a larger one, but I can't locate it.
I tried to trace the lines on the PCB (via audio probe & multimeter) and found like three of these small caps (The ones only used for automatic soldering or what it's called. They don't have any legs.) that could possibly be the input caps.
I am looking for a cheap pedal (i was thinking of a chorus, may be a boss because it is small) to mod make a vibrato like (something like a vb-2). I seen good mod to make on a small clone but it is too big for my pedal board. So if you have a mod give it to me. (i know : cutting the dry signal, but i a am near zero in electronic)
Also i've seen a phaser boutique pedale (can't remmember the name, it is a red one) which can make a vibrato like, is it possible on all phaser? It is another question...
Hi,
I've this cheap pedal that I never used. I did the Indyguitarist's mods some time ago, but I'm still unhappy with the sound. Today I took out the back to back clipping diodes, replaced them with LEDs, Ge... Even tried it as a booster without them. The overall sound is way too trebly. I'd like to sweeten the clipping (I'd put some cap in line with the diodes) as well as having more mids. I don't really know where to start. Any suggestions ?
Here are the indy mods and what they're supposed...
How on earth do you remove the knobs from the Danelectro Mini series pedals? I've just acquired a Chicken Salad, it's pretty damn good for a cheapie, but it could do with being rehoused and true-bypassed, mind you I'd much rather not have to break the casing to remove the second PCB (the one with the main guts of the pedal mounted on it). Is there any way to get the knobs off without doing serious damage to the case?
After I did the Unity Gain mod on my Rocky Road, later on I found a mod that allows the stock led to flash to what ever the speed of the spinning the pedal is at. Pretty good considering you don't know what speed its at when you first switch it on.
Found the mod on Harmony Central, emailed the guy and he sent me a detailed set of instructions.
Very easy actually. Lift on leg of the led, solder a wire to it, and connect it to a pad on the back of the pcb.
They suggest removing the led, but I...
I bought this distortion pedal new for £20 to either mod or salvage. Turned out to be SMD so going down the salvaging route.
The circuit is 4558 with 500k Pot and Led's in the feedback loop. The distortion has a lot of low end but gets a bit fizzy at high gain. also there is a major loss of highs at low gain.
However, i was very impressed with the sturdiness and build quality considering the dirt cheap price and that its made in china. The casing is fairly heavy with very nice grainy finish....
Hi and regards to all. :thumbsup I have been reading this board for a number of months and have finaly been bitten by the modding bug. My previous exp is from modding guitars but this just looks like a whole new gateway into something fun. So I'm here to learn and then develop into building from scratch. I'm already looking into getting on an electronics home study course or something similar. I came acroos this pedal on ebay which I scored for £5.00 and have already decided that I'm going to...
Hello everyone. I recently bought a Vintage Rat RI and the sound wasn't really good so I decided to do the Ruetz mod and now it sounds much better.
But there are some things that I would like to improve:
the distortion which is a little harsh (would prefer a rounder overdrive)
the bass that can get quite muddy (not good for palm muting)
the output that could be a little louder (not very important).
Any suggestion?
Since this project is something I would do for fun I would not mind to change...
No you can not. 3005 and 3205 have different ways voltage source. One use positive ground and another negative ground, There is no way to change one for another without to change the circuit board.
First off, I'm no expert in things electronic. I was willing to poke around with mine, and got it working. I figured others might be willing to do the same so I made a guide about it.
so, I read that you can take the cap in C22 out to retain the highs that the stock version cuts to make it more Marshall-y I guess- anyway, I did the mod and the cap is a 470pf and although it does bring back the highs to the pedal, it also makes it have more of a raspier gain...which I'm not digging so much...with the cap in place, the gain is MUCH smoother and I'd like to retain that smoothness-
so, would a different value cap get the smoothness of the gain back yet still recover some of the...
Japanese Boss DS-1 limiting resistor for LED.. where is it?
I commonly use 2.2k for the taiwan boss ds-1, but no matter what value I use for the japan ds-1's I still couldn't get the brightness I needed for the LED on/off indicator.
Hi guys,
Would anyone be able to give me some help with the Sniper mod for the Boss GE-7. I've looked around on google and can't find anything about it other than it exists :? Is it a difficult mod to do? My soldering is allright, not fantastic
