Another part should be modification: on ebay you can buy really cheap pedals. For example this week I bought a Ken-Multi/monarch Distortion for Eur 8,50 plus shipment. This boxes are not so bad. For example the PSK SDS-2, SDS-3 or SDS-5 (seems to be now the roque SDS-5 can be easily be modified to be a Rat. They put in this unit since years a 470 Ohm instead of the 47 Ohm resistor in the...
I am Johnny from Belgium
This is my first post.
I want to start with pedal building (so I ordered my first kit from das musikding)
I will have a lot to learn ;-)
My question.
A few years ago I bought this Chinese Butler clone 4 knob + bias)
It sounds good , but how far of the real thing is it.
And if it is wrong could I mod it to the real deal
Also it came with no power adapter
Now I am using a 9v 1000mA adapter (I didn't risk to use a higher power)
Would it...
some ago I modded a RAT2 putting two 1N34A diodes, whis is, as far as I know, what it is supposed to be in a You Dirty Rat circuit (since I have another stock RAT2 the comparison is easy and I prefer hands down the YDR sound).
BUT, reading around in various forums, the info about the right type of diodes in current production pedals seems a bit confusing. In the official site the YDR is reported to have germanium type diodes but several users opened their pedal and found:
I all, I already introduce myself, But just in case i'm a Bass player so I've done some minor mods to achieve better tone and get more bass frequencies to some of my stompboxes. But my knowledge about circuits and electronics is very limited so for necessity I had to learn how to weld and do basic mods.
I recently scored a brand new TC Tube Pilot at GC and I immediately fell in love with the fuzzy sound with a guitar bass. Now the problem is that it sucks all the low end and makes it useless...
I got one off of ebay, hoping that it would be a decent ocatve pedal (don't ask me why), but the tracking is really quite bad. It isn't worth re-selling, so is there anything cool I can do to it?
I am fixing an old MXR Distortion+ for a friend. To the best of my knowledge it is a 1980. It needs a new battery snap and possibly a new pot. Apparently, these pedals were packed inside with some kind of foam, possibly for shock absorption. After almost 40 years it has eroded and turned into some really nasty stuff. The foam has broken down and is now a greasy film that is also quite sticky. Does anybody have any advice on how to clean this up?
Hey, been wanting to mod my ultimate drive. Searched a bit around the internet and didn't find anything interesting enough. Does anyone know any mods \ bends to make the pedal sound more unique? Feel free to suggest anything. Thanks!
anyone know what the component changes are for a keeley mod? also, ive heard the fulldrive is based on this. if so, is it possible to turn an sd-1 into a fulldrive?
As I'm sure most of you will know the UV300 is a clone of the old Boss VB1. I'm looking for that crazy whammy wobble sound which I can punch in momentarily during a song and my current options appear to be the Behringer for £20, TC Electronics Shaker for £100 or a VB1 for £300 secondhand (if I can find one)...needless to say, I'm looking at the Behringer :D
Before I grab one though, I wondered whether any of you guys that have rehoused the Behringer pedals can shed some light on how easy...
Hi, I have an inexpensive OD pedal which I never use now (Fame UCD) and I was wondering if there are a few mods I could make to turn it into a decent Fuzz pedal ? I'm guessing (perhaps wrongly ?) that many of the components of an overdrive and a fuzz are common to both so is it just a matter of swoping out a couple of bits here and there ? Any help gratefully received as I know next to nothing about electronics !
Some photos attached to show the outside and inside . . .
joyo jf-04 high gain distortion - mod to restore marshall shredmaster bass control.
according to analogguru, the joyo jf-04 is based on a marshall shredmaster with fixed (omitted knob) bass control.
so am opening this pimp-my-cheap-pedal thread specifically dedicated to reinstating (or attempting to) this bass control.
having checked out the schematic , and had quick look inside mine and at the unboxed gutshots posted here by grrrunge (proper components, no sm scabs, solid board that can...
Hi guys,
I'm considering the chance of projecting and building stompboxes in a rack format.
My first thought is to make them somewhat like salvation mods (
Do you have any thoughts on this?!
THanks in advance
So the problems with the pedal were that the guitar signal became much brighter when the effect was on and I couldn't really get the whole delay thing to work because the end signal just felt kind of busy. To solve the brightness I added a 0.0056 cap in parallel to the input cap just letting a little more bass through. Then I added a 0.033 cap to the outer lugs of the mix control. This effectively takes out all the highs on just the repeats (like a tone control maxed out) your original guitar...
Here's Analog mikes pages on it.
Makes it sound more mysterious than it could possibly be
Daphon makes these red pedals to our special AR20DL design, so we can't do our mod to a stock grey Daphon pedal .... nothing 'da brothers' here can't handle methinks.
They can be had for as little as $US20 new (well for the identicle boarded plastic DL10 version)
I will be buying one ASAP and having...
Hi guys, first post here!
Short intro: I've got a long experience as musician, but no solid engeneering background. I know how to solder and desolder and I've built and designed some passive guitar circuits. I have got some pedal projects in mind and I want to enter the DIY pedal world!
To enter the DIY world I want to start from some mods on some cheap clone pedals: I've just ordered a Caline Tremolo, which I'm almost sure that's a Joyo Trem rebrand (that's supposedly a clone of the Diaz...
Are there any mods for the MI Audio Crunchbox that will enable it to clean up better with the guitar volume knob? I built a BSIAB II and I like the way it cleans up with my guitar volume. It seems like the CB would be less of a one trick pony if there was a way to address this.
Hey Everyone! First post here! My apologies if I've posted this in the wrong forum, wasn't sure if here or the how-to section would be the proper place, but I figured the Micro Amp is pretty cheap...
So, Can I mod the same style switch as the T.C. Electronics Spark Mini into an MXR Microamp? (LATCHING On-Off + MOMENTARY option in the SAME switch)
I’ve read before in the past that a True Bypass, Latching On-Off 3PDT + Momentary in the SAME switch didn’t exist.
But the T.C. has this function,...
Anyone know what the Keeley mod for this pedal involves? Any other mods? I have looked all over google and all I can really find is to change two resistors and maybe experiment with different opamps... is this all Keeley is doing... or maybe there is something much better...
thanks
Only a few months old worked fine last week, never been dropped ect,Now it just makes screeching sounds, and when I turn any knobs it sounds like a sick synthesizer :hmmm: ?Does this ring any bells as to what might be the problem,Thanks in advance.Jon
Hi, when looking at another thread, there was a comment that the Danelectro PB&J was a good candidate for mods.
There's nothing here that I can see- I can't even find the original comment. (I must be getting too old to use this technology :P ) Does anyone have any suggestions on where else to look?
I have a Sansamp GT2 and the footswitch spring seems to have worn out. It will sometimes engage, but not often. My soldering iron is terrible and I'm not that great at de soldering in the first place. So I cannot seem to remove the circuit from the casing to replace the spring.
So I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how I can short out the foot switch to be in an always-on state. Not ideal I know, but I'm fine with it as long as I have it working when I want it to work.
Does anyone know of any mods for the Digitech Death Metal?...I picked one up for $10 !!!, and would like to make it a little less buzzy & chainsaw sounding (in the higher frequencies) :| . Also, I'd love to add a mini switch, for a possible clipping diode selector :hmmm: . Thanx, in advance for any help, or ideas.
