Another part should be modification: on ebay you can buy really cheap pedals. For example this week I bought a Ken-Multi/monarch Distortion for Eur 8,50 plus shipment. This boxes are not so bad. For example the PSK SDS-2, SDS-3 or SDS-5 (seems to be now the roque SDS-5 can be easily be modified to be a Rat. They put in this unit since years a 470 Ohm instead of the 47 Ohm resistor in the...
I have a couple of second hand pedals (I guess we all do) that show either volume drop or volume rise when engaged. What's the best way to achieve a nice and matched level between bypassed and clean signal?
Altering the output stage (setting resistors?)? The input stage? Any other part? Shall I mod this at all?
Any tips on how to make it are greatly welcomed... Thanks!
Just ordered one of these turds yesterday. $29.99 with free shipping. I looked around but couldnt find any mod threads for it. Cant wait to crack it open and mess with stuff!
Picked this one up on Craig's for $5.. It is housed in a 'CryBaby' enclosure and I was told it is a Dunlop GCB-95, however it doesn't match the layout I have for a GCB-95 mod. The circuit board says 'ECB-25', so I figure it is an older model, perhaps pre-GCB.
At any rate, can anybody tell me the model and perhaps help me with some modding suggestions? I have the IndyGuitarist book and was planning to mod it as written there.
I got an '81 DS-1 on Craig's with a faulty distortion pot. I am not great at reading schematics, so I was wondering what value should I get for a replacement? Audio taper?
Also, would a lower value produce more push, more compression, reduce fuzziness, or anything positive?
I modded a later version with a 'JCM' mod from Premier Guitar magazine with the added gain changes and though it's a bit noisy, it turned out great. I am planning a hybrid for the Japanese version but the pot has to be...
I would be sweeeeet to get this thing wired TB and upgraded in any way. I was going to remove the guts and just use the enclosure for something else and powder coat it, but i figured it would good to try here first. Any suggestions?
Okay I thought about this one for a little while and I will spill it all out so you can let me know what you think.
I am probably going to attempt this on my Boss DS-1.
For a true bypass (possibly a pass through???) in a boss pedal would it be possible or not worth trying to place a 3dpt switch (smaller size) under the battery latch in the place of the old plastic switch?
Hopefully next I have a good idea here ... replace the two wires (black and purple) as they were on the original which will...
These pedals are dirt cheap and I'm just wondering if they are any good, its likely a clone of a more famous pedal like the CS9 or something but I have no idea as Ive never seen inside one of these.
They exist under a lot of different names but its easy to recognise them.
A number of my DS/OD/FZ pedals suffer from high frequency fizz or hair tones in low/mid gain settings, especially/primarily when you dig in. Is there an easy general mod for this? Otherwise, what to do about it, other than spend on expensive pedals? A home made low pass filter/buffer at the end of my pedal chain?
Brand new to the forum so I hope this hasn't been addressed already. I'm wondering how to add a switchable bandpass or extra clipping stage to pedals. I've looked around and couldn't find any articles on the subject.
Hi Guys,
Does anyone have a boss tr2 modded or have done the mod to fix the volume drop by adding a pot?
I just dont know wich resistor i change for the pot, if it's R9 or R19?
Thanks in advance.
I´ve search the forum for a plan for changing the os-2 to a true bypass pedal keeping the original housing without success- does anyone have a plan for doing that? Other good mods for this pedal - I´m not too impressed by it´s overdrive and really irritated by the reduction in output when it is switched out compared to using the amps without the pedal ... - I´m using it with af Fender Pro Junior and a Fender g-dec 15
Hi all!
I've picked this one up for cheap and played with it a little today. A very interesting effect. The drive control really doesn't change the amount of distortion, but rather slightly boosts the compression of an already overdriven sound and adds high mids to the tone. So far the IC count is 2 JRC4559 on the inline package, a µPC1571 and a cmos switching IC. No camera these days, hence no gut shots... I wonder if anyone has seen a schematic for this one.
A friend of mine has this Ibanez pedal, and he lent it to me, because now he doesn't play that much with it...
I've tried it out, and I only like it with drive at 0, tone at 0, a level (volume) high up.... On other settings, it seems like we're frying french fries.... It's too damn harsh, and I use humbuckers! (imagine if I used it with S-coils...)
Hi, i would like to built a pedal twith two mono outputs...
I would like to have one inputs that goes in two outputs and then into an amp...So i can use two different amps...
Can i just simple connect the input j jack to 2 output jacks, or should i put a buffer or something like the in the pedal?
has anybody done a stuff like that?
Thank you in advatange for your help,
No doubt a number of folks here are familiar with the Danelectro FAB series of pedals, especially the FAB Echo. Internally they comprise two boards, an input/output/buffering/switching board that seems to be (almost) common to all the pedals, and then a smaller one that has the actual guts of the specific pedal circuit.
I just opened up the FAB Flange, expecting to find the same five wires connecting the common board to the flange board: white (signal in), silver shield (ground), yellow...
Can anyone install my Monte Allums MT-2 mod kit and rehouse the circuit board into a fancier casing for me? It would be a paid job. E-mail me at sabriel9v@hotmail.com for more details.
