After trad3mark requested some form of I-Pod amp in a previous thread elsewhere and feeling that perhaps it would be a fun little project, I had a look around for a suitable schematic and found the new section of Beavious Audio, Beavis HiFi and the schematic for his small stereo 1/2 Watt I-Pod Power amp the Little Lebowski Urban Achiever
Anywho, i've drawn up a vero for the main speaker section (i'd be greatful for a more experienced veroer to check it over, it is 4 in the morning...
How do you deal with the direct-heated cathode on these little guys? Can they be used in standard applications, or do they need a certain tweak to the circuit to work? Any circuits using similarly-configured tubes I could look to for reference?
So, I have this amp and I REALLY like it's dirty channel.
it is not connected to the equalizer, maybe its broken somehow.
Can anyone find a schematic for me? I would love to adapt one to a distortion box!
Its clean channel its really warm and tube response like, and the drive channel is pure rawk.
It transforms my squier strat into a bulldozer :D :applause:
Its 150 watts solid state.
I also need the schematic to repair the reverb module, its making a lot of hum and sometimes fucks up the amp...
I'm researching a Vox AC15H1TV for my next build and I know this much:
Ch. 1 is EF86 based, with Vol and Brilliance pots, a Bass Shift switch, and a pentode/triode switch;
Ch. 2 is 2 12AX7s with Vol, Treble, and Bass pots,
A common Top Cut control, and
Output is 2 EL-84s with a pentode/triode switch. Rectifier is a EZ-81.
I can't find a schematic anywhere; but from the topology, it looks like the amp is made up of a combination of 1960 vintage AC-15 circuits that are readily available.
Any gut...
I own a beautiful Orange Tiny Terro Head. I use it at rehearsal with my band, where there is a 4X12 cab.
But at home I don't have a suitable cab and, even if I do, i could not use it due to neighbourghs complaining about my 2 a.m. guitar performances.
Tiny Terror does not have a LineOut or Headphone out. So I decided to buy the behringer ultra-g, a DI box with speaker emulator, to drive headphones or to go into the multitrack.
The problem is that the DI Box have a Speaker Out that...
Hi.
Here is the service documentation of the Hughes & Kettner Vortex amplifier (solid state). It contains the schematics and the component layout. Anyone interested in designing the pcb based on the original documentation?
So I'd just like to start off by saying thank you to soulsonic and bajaman for their help in an older thread about taming the peavey nasties. if anyone was familiar with that thread it pretty much helped me tame my peavey mace with some new screen grid resistors, adjustable bias, and a choke.
alright so my question is about tube glow. the mace has a SS preamp and a tube power amp originally rated at 160w with 6 6l6GC tubes. I am only running it with 4 tubes and have not had a problem. so they...
This is gunna be a bit of a vague thread to be honest... It's mostly what do you know about it...
It's Back story... not really neccessary to read...
My first amp was a Carlsbro Colt 45-L about 4-5 years back, well ever since i've had it every 8 or so months the sound has just started to cut out (although I now haven't used it in about a year), at the time being too young and unknowledgeable for fixing high powered amps it got taken back to the shop twice to be fixed by an 'expert' cool...
Hi everyone, I'm currently modding my peavey windsor to reach JCM800 spec, its fun so far but I just cant get rid of a sort of fizzyness triggered by the low end.. I have read that it is related to the lack of a choke in the power supply.
For those unfamiliar with the Windsor, it has a 5 ohm resistor where the inductor would be on the JCM800, heres the schematic:
But I'm wondering how important the choke actually is? Its quite expensive to get one in the UK but if its greatly benificial im...
Having just completed my first valve amp (the 12ax7/EL84 SE design on the TubeTown website) I've been looking around to see if I could find a design that could be battery powered to use as a small busking amp.
My idea is to take an old Chinese practice amp, gut it and replace the amp and maybe the speaker and then stick in a 7AH 12V lead-acid battery (of which I have many salvaged from UPSs).
I went down the nixie smps route and then found Rick Holt's Murder One on Ebay which led to this...
I have a crappy Marshall MG15CD 15watt practice amp, I've tried to flog it but no buyers so I thought before I either cannabalised it or just stuck it away somewhere else that I might see if there were any mods that might improve it?
For a small amp it's fairly versatile but has two major flaws, the clean channel is rather dull/flat and the distorted channel hisses horribly.
I'l assume someone will asks for gutshots in the next post or two so I will put them up tommorow hopefully if I...
hey all! I recently built a tweed deluxe clone,I ordered all my own parts 1 watt metal film resistors, solen caps and hovland musicaps, some nice nos 6v6,and 1 ge 12ax7,1 rca 12ax7,new electroharmonix 5y3gt rectifier and a new ce filter cap.The amp sounds good, nice chime and real beefy attack with the nos output transformer from a hammond organ. My only gripe is that with a nos rca 12au7 its clean like it should be and gradually ups the distortion amount until i get to about 1:00 then the...
1. What do you think of using Celestion Tube 10 8ohm in open combo and Eminence Legend 125 8ohm in open cabinet working the same time in series? I could stay with my combo amp and add plug the cab when I need it. My amp is 15w tube Laney LC15 - 8ohm
2. How to make SAFE connection for optional external cab jack?
As some of you may or may not know, i'm currently studying architecture. As a student of architecture, i'm always thinking of things i could design, little projects like. Anyway, I just came up with a new one. IT'S ONLY A CONCEPT, but i'd love to follow it through.
Basically, I was thinking of designing a sort of funky mono amp with 1 speaker and 1 volume control on it, which would be for ipods etc. I'm more than happy for it to run off a DC plug or...
Hi!
I don't know if this is the right forum for my question, but I'll give it a go.
I've recently bought a Sovtek Mig50 tube amp which sounds incredible when you crank it up to 2 o’clock. But when I’ve done that I can barely be in the same room because the volume is too high. I think I’ve found a solution to the problem, if found a “pedal” called a “Tube Amp Volume Box” that gives you the possibility to change the volume after the amps volume.
Now my problem appears. According to sellers, you...
I'll start making 1x12 cab for my laney lc15 soon. What is the best size? I heard of 30 square decimeters. Opened or closed back? What are things I should do and thinks I shouldn't do?
I bought Eminence Legend 125 and hope it was good choice.
Hi All,
I found problem in my bassman 68 head that the 1st filter caps (20uF/450V) as +B2 which connect to choke and going very hot and smoke  , I check the voltage and the value is right. And the other filter caps B3, B4, B5 in normal temperature.
BTW the sound is good and there is no noise and neraly quite.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to build a prototype in a way that it is easy to swap components? Proto boards are great for pedals but obviously not for tube amps.
how much knowledge about tubes/electronics/tube-amplifiers do you have? the road-king is a very complex amplifier with a very big switching-matrix. not easy to repair!
bring your amp to a experienced tube-amp-service-guy, i think this would be the easiest way for you. if he needs the schematic of this amplifier, send me a PM.
