Introduction
Eagle CAD offers the best value for individuals and small businesses. However some of its user interface features are different from what we normally expect. For those of us who layout boards occasionally, it is an effort to relearn the Eagle CAD each time we come back to it. I have tried to document the Eagle CAD user interface idiosyncracies here to make it easier to do PCB layou with it.
I am wondering if anyone is using KiCad for drawing schematics and creating PCBs?
Its available here:
On the plus side:
- KiCad is free software and open source
- Its compatible with all the major operating systems like Windows, Mac OS and a lot of Linux distributions.
- Developed by CERNE
- A community and tutorials
- 3D modeling and lots of parts.
On the minus side:
-Lerning it can take some time, as much as any other.
Let me know what you guys think and suggest alternatives...
Hi, is it possible to import the MB eagle library to Dip Trace?
someone knows if there is any library like the MB for Dip Trace, I'm missing everything, switches, jacks, pots, and all the parts.
someone who can help me?
Thank you
Hi, I'm new to this forum so hopefully I don't break any of the rules :lol:
I thought this spreadsheet might help others who are building reverse engineered JFET based boutique pedals.
I'm in the process of building my first DIY stompbox (for a few years anyway), a Wampler Plexi Drive, and I wanted to sort through my J201s for the ones closest in spec to the ones in the production pedal.
Elsewhere, members have posted the measured Vdrain for each JFET gain stage in the production (or clone)...
hi, a query, to design the pcb, are there some important tips to keep in mind? the ground? the signal of in and out, oscillations, noises,
someone has info to consider before doing a bad pcb?
Thanks
Posted this at the other forum too. Here is a little something I've been working on lately. (I'n not 100% electronics, more like 50/50 with software engineering)
Still a work in progress, but I feel some of you might enjoy trying it out.
You need Java 1.6+ and a OpenGL enable gfx card. Then click this link:
Background for question: I am recently designing a PCB with KiCAD where components such as SMD resistors and capacitors are placed before and after DC/DC converters.
I am trying to build two different common grounds: one placed on the left side of the PCB (for all the input signals) and another one placed on the its right side (for all the output signals).
In order to do so, I am placing ground traces in the B.Cu layer and the rest of them in the F.Cu layer. Then, in the B.Cu layer, I am...
Anybody etch pcb's using an arduino cnc? I have most the items needed except the frame, which I am building. Oh, and the spindle motor for the bits. I'm hoping the little nema17 motors are good enough to move one of those spindle motors around.. :scratch: :hmmm:
I'm sick of chemicals and also want to try this for double sided stuff.
Good morning~all
The battery which is 3 and 2 sting was charging by BQ24616,the outside connected the inputted power of 12V while the current limiting is 4A.
1). When here didn’t connect battery,the BQ24616 was measured that the outputted voltage is about 8.4,the voltage output is normal which can explain that the circuit of battery charging is working.
2). Measuring the current of configured charging and the voltage of pins in the outside circuit: Vacset=0.8v,Viset2=0.3v,Viset1=0.6v,Vts=2.17v...
It's some time now I'm using Diptrace and I'm getting really handy with it.
The thing I was missing was the vacuum valve library (tube in US dollars)
I have been able to find some scraps of libraries online but with no patterns (schematic symbols only) or other way around - patterns with no schematic simbols.
So I've made one!
It's complete library of most of the popular ones. Triodes, small signal pentodes, tri/pent hybrids, popular PA valves as well as some big bottle examples including...
I've been messing around with Diptrace again and have made up an example of one of my pedals from schematic to 3D PCBlayout. Some of the footprints I have converted from Guassmarkov Eagle library's, Diptraces 3D library's and the 3PDT switch and caps from a member on this forum ( I think it was Waltk which I will check later and give proper credit to the library maker) Thanks for making them available.
OK this pedal is my Bluesman fet based drive pedal and I have put everything on the PCB to...
* schematic drawing software (free/lowcost)
* decent symbol-library, or easy to add own symbols
* circuit simulation possible (Spice)
* Windows
I've been using Simetrix for circuit simulation of discrete circuits, works well, and enables the use of all the usual suspects w.r.t. transistor types, logic etc (Spice).
While it does a decent circuit drawing, it doesn't look as tasty as the various other programs out there.
Curious what other PC-programs might be out there...
What is the best way to model a guitar signal? Currently I'm using a +/-1V 800Hz sine wave in Multisim, and I'm currently battling op-amp clipping in a clean boost I designed. Is the voltage too high?
The circuit is supposed to be able to boost the signal over 20db but I'm saturating the amp at about 10.
Hey guitar gear fiends! I'm a graphic designer, strummer and pedal collector and thought this may be of interest to people on these forums.
I created a series of highly-detailed, royalty-free, layered, and labelled spot vector illustrations of guitar effects pedals.
The idea being musicians can create their own illustrated pedal board setup. Guitarists can make an infographic diagram of their sound setup. Aspiring DIY pedal manufacturers can use these shapes and components as part of their...
I love doing board layouts in EagleCAD and have been practicing a lot lately, but putting the schematics together is a pain. Are there any good resources or file dumps out there of EagleCAD .sch (schematic) files?
4 unique detail controls, nearly 70 one-click presets and powerful finishing touches will make every photo a masterpiece.
Creative Kit consist of 6 incredible apps: Snapheal, Intensify, Noiseless, Tonality, Focus and FX Photo Studio.
I know it seems people are using Livespice, but I can't for the life of me find any decent working libraries. I want to start really working with this program, but I need working non-ubergeneric components.
