Introduction
Eagle CAD offers the best value for individuals and small businesses. However some of its user interface features are different from what we normally expect. For those of us who layout boards occasionally, it is an effort to relearn the Eagle CAD each time we come back to it. I have tried to document the Eagle CAD user interface idiosyncracies here to make it easier to do PCB layou with it.
It's about time I learn to draw presentable schematics and do layouts. Would be cool to hear some opinions on what would be best to start and pros/cons of each.
Also would like to hear suggestions for just a simple schematic drawing program in case I can't hack it with either of those.
Many thanks!!
Can anyone post some pointers on using the Autorouting tool in Eagle? Seems this could be a time saver. I have it working and it makes a great two sided board. As a DIYer a singled sided board is what I really want, which seems trickier to created with the Autorouter.
I just noticed that the Autorouter seems to be working in the latest copy of Eagle. It didn't work in the older free version of Eagle.
I'm new to using Eagle. Can you open schematics in gif/jpg form that people have posted here in Eagle? If they need to be converted to .sch, how do you go about doing that?
Hey guys, just wondering if anybody knows of eagle libraries for those pots? Ill re-design my layouts and would be cool to give'em a try! I´m guessing they are 9mm pots, like this ones
If I don't find any, I will have to make'em myself hehe, but for time's and accuracy's sake, if there are any already that you know of, would be awesome!
I've tried out LT spice a couple of times. It seems ok for signal tracing, but I'm more interesting in simulating frequency response of a circuit. If there are variables (like potentiometers) in the circuit it's a pain to set up correctly, and I don't think I've ever seen a result that looked correct when graphed (probably user error) The shortcut keys are also really annoying. Come on, control Z should always be undo.
Any suggestions for something a bit more user friendly that is...

Very useful thing...for example, when you want to print image file of the schematic or pcb layout or transfer from your favorite software.
Easy to change resolution under printer...
I've noticed that several people on here use the vector graphics program Inkscape to do layouts and such with. So, why don't we start a collection of templates to use.
I've attached the template that I made for doing vero and perf layouts. It's missing several components, like trimmers, ICs with more than 8 pins, jacks, and such, but there should be enough there to get a good start. I keep the grid set to 2.54mm/.1 (not sure if that will translate in the file or not). Everything has/is on it's...
I'm trying to make a CA309E4 part for a project in EAGLE and have come up against a problem.
I'm working from a library called ota.lbr (available for download at the EAGLE CAD website). What I have noticed is that it seems to be impossible to have enough connectors in a DIL8 package to include the +V on the sink output/collector. In the circulating schematics and datasheets this is listed as pin8. Noticing this, I double checked the NE5517s in my project schematic and noticed that I could not...
I have to enlarge all the pads of the components on the PCB . Does a rapid solution exist? Like a script, for example?
If not, how could I change the pad of a component?
In this image there is a large pad (diameter: 1.93 drill: 1) and four smaller. I want to enlarge the small to the large one size.
If I have a dense layout, and am missing a connection between two pins, how is this found other than scouring the layout looking for airwaves? DRC shows shorts, but not open connections.
I wanna take a good stab at Express PCB to start doing my own layouts as I like to have a few things available such as onboard pots when i'm building PCBs up and layouts that include them are not always available and I was wondering if someone could possibly send me an .PCB file they may already have for a PCB that uses onboard pots so I could get to grips with the program and make sure I get the sizes/spacing for parts right etc. it'd certainly be a handy learning tool for me.
Here's the case - I bet many of you have dozens of electronic components for the DIY projects. Some of them are new, some of them are just unused stuff from old projects. Ok, but what does it matter? Well, there comes a time, when you look at this stuff, and think what to do with this junkyard. It just begs to be used in a new guitar fx, but which one? It is troublesome to search through hundreds of projects on your pc to find the ones that use most of your stuff - and here comes my idea. I...
Ok so i think i need to start using some form of vector based drawing program. it would mainly be for doing drill templates and stuff. i had to drill an eddystone enclosure a while back and used MS Paint! it was a total waste of time! had to print, measure, adjust, print , measure adjust etc etc.
It would also be nice to be abe to add text, flip it, use different fonts (there are some MS fonts i like) it would also be cool to add graphics. either add them in the program or if i...
Most of us probably already know about this program but I thought I'd post it anyway.
DIY layout creator has got to be the easiest layout program I have ever used. No it's not perfect, it won't easily run on a MAC and there are some other slightly annoying glitches. The more you use it though the better you get at working around the glitches
Hi friends
Just thought I would share an url where I have found almost every program or music CD I have ever wanted :D
I am sure many of us old timers already know of it - the noobies might gain something though.
As a word of caution - the site does contain a lot of files which are actually porn, however you can right click on the progress bar (when it changes colour to blue) and check under the details tab, if it is the correct or bogus file  - you will soon see
Most of the audio...
Don't know why .pcb are not allowed. since .sch (from ExpressPCB too) are.
Any way, if anyone is interested in an ExpressPCB curved traced Lovetone's Meatball unrar it and that's all
Maybe Modman can solve it soon and the file can be uploaded for anyone without rar it (not big deal, any way)
I'm trying to come up with a set of modern silicon fuzz pedals sounding as close as possible to their originals with germanium transistors for a physics project. It will be educational and hopefully brilliant for the community here to know the best Si or Si/Ge alternatives for particular Ge transistors.
Any other means of analysing wave properties of germanium transistors would also be useful!
Is there any software out there, similar to the Duncan TSC, that will let you put in the tone section of a circuit (or the whole circuit for that matter), to see what the frequency response will be?
I'm trying to learn about tone stacks, and have learned a lot from the TSC, but it's kinda limited when working with tone stacks for pedals.
