I'm working from this schematic I found online with no other info, but it does have all of the vital details on it(resistor and capacitor values etc..). I managed to get all the parts via a mix of local shops and mail order but so far I'm only getting a working volume pot, no tremolo. I did have to sub a 4558 op amp but carefully followed the bracketed pin numbers provided and...

Has anyone seen and/or built this? I have built a few of them and it's a really useful circuit IMO.

Does it make sense to add buffers or input impedance is 1 megohm and the output does not exceed 50 kilo ohms

I've wanted to try a dimension c for quite a while and the two layouts I have seen, as far as I know, are not only complicated as heck but perhaps prone to issues (ticking?). With that in mind this schem appeals to me.

Hi Folks,

I have a question about the purpose of the 3.3M resistor (R5) in the boost section of the LaVache pedal from Madbeans. Its a variant of the Lovepedal Les Lius Overdrive which I believe is built upon the Electradistortion.

Here is the schematic

When the switch is open its just a huge resistor in parallel with R4 and when the switch is closed its bypassed completely.

What am I missing!?

any npn's will work. i use 'em around 215hFE/.650ma

if ya use say, 450hfe, double up the e resistors. you'll have to play with...

I have finished the re-design of this platform to make it more of a regular DIY build. I based it on the Ursa Minor

but the basic idea is applicable to anything that will fit on a 60mm x 60mm piece of perf or PCB. You can build inexpensively and still have the no stomped pots benefit of the enclosure. A full kit is available

From a small DIY guitar electronics book which I bought
in the mid-1980s.

I remember building this for a friend at that time.

I think it sounded halfway between an overdrive and distortion.

The circuit obviously has to be modified to be of use in practice.

I think R6 can be replaced with a 500k variable resistor as
a Distortion control.

Another variable resistor will have to be added as a Level control,
I guess at the output after C5, or after Pin 7 of IC1.

I started with a BYOC Lil' Fuzz kit, which suddenly has been deleted from the BYOC website.

I made a couple of changes to the stock Lil' Fuzz:
I always run my Gain/Fuzz knob on max so I hard wired the Fuzz to maximum (2k resistor) and removed the Fuzz pot.
I like having access to the BIAS pot so I installed an Alpha 25k pot for added flexibility.
The stock 2.2uF input capacitor is too bassy...

I've seen a DIY project with an active BMP tone control which seems pretty cool as you save one gain stage because it's placed in the feedback loop.
So there is no need for a recovery stage respectively a buffer.
Guess this could be very interesting for a view pedal builders..

I like the BMP tonestack a lot but would like to add the Body control of the AMZ Presence Control to alter the mids.
Not sure about the values,what a pity I'm not into spice.. :(

Here's a new DIY project release from me - the Subspace Transmission Fuzz.
It's a fuzz with a recording and playback feature based on the ISD1820 voice recording chip.
It can record up to 20 seconds and the playback can be repeated and pitched up or down.
It's a pedal you can have alot of fun with... :)

It's an easy build that doesn't require any programmable chips.

Here's a new DIY project - the Sentient Machine.

It's a LFO modulated resonant lowpass filter with two voices, a standard wah sound and a vowel sound.
At slow speed it makes a cool phaser'ish spacey sweeping sound aswell.

I'm working right now on a small system that will allow you to control a standard potentiometer using either MIDI or Expresion pedals. There is a lot of things to work on but i will present you the concept.
The idea behind this was simple: a electro-mechanical module that can be used virtually on any guitar amplifier to control various functions (potentiometers) and also preset storing (MIDI CC messages will be used). Also another requirement was this: anyone with a screwdriver...

Nothing fancy here too, it's just a TS-like design with tons of controls:
- Active mid boost/cut.
- Symmetric/asymmetric clipping.
- Choice of 4x different clippers.
- Tons of gain.
- Hard/soft mode.
- More switch with internal trimpots to boost volume and/or gain.

Not verified yet but I think it should be without errors.

I found the tone stack non standard so checked and it is the same (except for minor differences in pot values) to the one displayed here: . The mu-amp (last stage) is the same (except for minor differences in cap values) to the OLC Orange Peel.

I've attached the eagle schematic file in the zip. Let me know if anyone spots any errors.

Had a little time to almost finish another tube project, this time we are talking about a modified version of the Alembic F2B preamp (you can till build the original version on the same board, as the modification we are talking about is just a buffered output).
I will post all the build documents soon, but you will have to keep in mind that the PCB is double sided. The heart of this is represented by my version of SMPS (the one that i'm using in all my tube projects).

Hi all, this is a simplistic noisegate that was published in the 80's in the dutch electronics magazine 'Elex', which was a subsidiary/small brother to Elektuur (which was the dutch version of Elektor magazine). Their projects were simple and aimed at beginners. All volumes have been released on CD and you can probably find it online somewhere.

I built this noisegate on a piece of perfboard in the early 90s and it performed 'ok', for what I recall.
