I have this three position rotary switch and I was wondering if someone could help me with wiring one humbucker for series/coil split/parallel. I now how it's done with dpdt on/on/on but can't fugure out how to translate it to this rotary switch. I checked connections with my multimeter and they are as shown in the photo. Thanks.
i bought this unbranded pickup years ago on fleabay thinking it was a decent high gain rail pickup (measures 15.5, so maybe an unbranded kind of x2n or something).
but have since seen some pics of sustainer pickups as found in some freakout 1980s hair rock guitars, kramers particularly, and they seem to have either floyd rose or schaller sustainers housed in a complete brass enclosure a lot like this one.
this is severely shielded. meticulously soldered brass enclosure for back and sides...

Newbie first post here and really looking to get the group's feedback. Here is what I am trying to do:
Single coil neck pickup with a humbucker bridge. A three way switch for the pickup selector and a single switch to tap the coil of the humbucker. Single volume pot with no tone pot. Any ideas/schematics on how to do this?
I have an SH Tele that I just installed a DiMarzio Super Distortion in place of dull, mushy stock HB.
It's an incredible upgrade, whole new guitar.
I think the bridge pick up is fine, but obvuously there's a volume difference between the two.
I like this difference a lot of the time, since there's three blended positions, and 2 full one way or the other, so it's like a built in lead boost when needed.
But there's other times were I'd like them to be at unity .
So what I'd like to do is hook...
So, I just ordered a new set of pickups, and was hoping to put them into my 2003 Am. Series Strat with the following wiring:
However I have 2 tone pots so I'd like to have one tone pot for each of the humbuckers, and no tone control for the single coil.
Also, I'd like to reverse the operation of the S1 switch (so what it does when up in that diagram, it would do when down in my guitar). For this, would I simply have to swap the connections either side of the common pins on the 4PDT? i.e....
As the topic says, what do you think? I saw this other thread about using two SC's, and i thought it would be interesting to do the same thing with a couple of soapbars i've got laying around :hmmm: They're nothing fancy, got them from a friend who had switched them to HB's in a cheapish guitar, so its no big loss if they're getting screwed up. Think they've got pretty much the same imedance as well.

I searched the net prior to trying this,and read a bunch of posts saying it would sound TOO dark,muddy,awful,ect
I decided to use some old single coils and wire them up as humbuckers anyway,using series parallel switching for the newly made humbucker.
I used a wiring diagram called full boat
Anyway,glad I didnt believe what I read online,in HB mode its sounds fantastic close to my Epi burstbucker.
In parallel mode it has that single coil chime and brightness w/o the noise.

Does anybody know if there is a difference between humbuckers where:
A) Both coils are wound in the same direction and the end of one is connected to the start of another
or
B) The coils are wound opposite directions of each other and the 2 starts leads are connected to each other
I'm asking because A is the way that I thought humbuckers were usually made, but I recently saw a diagram of B and am curious what that would change.

I'm repairing at the moment an Oakland & Co Bass. I'm having a lot of difficulties in trying to wire the active preamp circuit.
There's not much info around on these bass guitars, and no schematics.
The Active Bass preamp circuit uses 2 IC's, the TL064 and a TL061.
It seems a similar layout to a MEC bass preamp, although the MEC uses TL064 and TL062, couldn't find a schematic on the MEC unfortunately.
Someone in the past messed around with the wiring of the active circuit and some wires...

What im after is replicating as near as possible the electronics from a Wal Bass. I have seen the details/diagrams for the pickups ie each pickup is made up of 8 individual wound magnets etc. But for me the magic of the Wal tone is hidden in the preamp/eq electronics and im struggling to find any info on how they work?

I have a Yamaha BB425X electric bass. I like it mostly, but sometimes I find it too bassy.
So I ordered a 2-band preamp from ToneMonster and I built it in my bass.
However, with all the pots in the cavity I had no more room left for the battery.
So I rolled my own battery pack using some painters tape, 2 wires and 3 3V CR2032 button cells.
I found that a pretty nifty solution!
Capacity should be ~500mAh, not that much less than a 9V brick. So lifetime shouldn't be a problem.
I'm a beginner at pickup winding and was building a couple humbuckers over the weekend. There must be some tips for how to work with the magnet wire ends when you are connecting them to hookup wire to go between the coils and also the hot and ground leads. That shit is such a pain in the ass. I must be doing something wrong. lol Any tips for making life easier?

little contribution with not 100 percent detailed but enough good for reference and personal use.

Being one to experiment, I'm building a Frankenaxe from a Kramer Pacer body and a Jackson neck. The Pacer is routed for two humbuckers and has control cavity spots for three pots and a pickup selector. I'm using push-pull 500K pots for the two volumes and one tone control, and have popped a couple of DPDT mini toggles in to boot.
I'm trying to get as many combinations out of this setup as possible. Where I keep running into a problem is trying to find a way to switch both humbuckers in a series...
i have seen something called LLItch back guard system, and seems to work fine, its there any other way to make a single coils guitar pasive noiseless??
Buddy wants his pups changed from EMG to passive. Got all the guts out of his guitar and noticed there's no GD wire to the bridge. Are we gonna have to send it to a tech to route one out?
