hello again diy musicians..

any body here knows the inside guitar wiring of Tremonti PRS guitar? the exact wiring cavity inside of that guitar with real wire pictures of pot inside of it..because I want to rewire my guitar like tremontis anybody knows here where I can find it? I check the prs website is not there..

I am trying to simulate the G&L PTB circuit as shown in the schematic that was previously available in the G&L website.

I am having trouble getting the treble cut to work. The treble stays the same regardless of the value of VR2. Any hints as to why it isn't working would be nice. Thank you!

VR1 = Bass cut
VR2 = Treble cut
VR3 = Volume

I have one strat that is wired with a Seymour Duncan jb and texas specials that uses the outside coil in auto split mode with with the middle pickup. It isn't out of phase and it noise cancels perfectly. I racked my brain with this but left it as is because I feel the tone is much better for some reason. So knowing this, I bought another jb to wire in my other strat the same way with texas specials as well, but it used the inside coil like it is supposed to. I ended up selling the jb and...

Hi everyone. A bit of a conundrum which I'm hoping to shed some light on. I am hoping to reproduce a small batch of pre-amps for early 70s/80s Aria basses which - given their age - have a certain number of failed units. The rub is, the pre-amp is nothing more than a balanced unity gain buffer made from two op-amps (JRC4558N/LM4558N, no tube scream voodoo, please) on a balanced 18v supply from 2x PP3s. A few days ago in my service popped in LGXT Godin guitar for repair.
The guys from the company RMC did not want to give me schematic for Poly Drive X preamp,

This is a seventies' Strat which should be all stock (though the pickups do seem a bit strange to my unexperienced eye... non-staggered polepieces). But look at this pickup configuration mass / negative pole - all three pickups are going to a 330nF capacitor, and then to ground. The rest of the wiring, upon a brief survey, appears stock.

It should not even work, maybe. But the owner (a great guitar player) swears by it - more sustain and a sort of compression unobtainable in any other way,...

My preamp in my acoustic guitar died after I put the battery in backwards. I need to replace it, and fast. Piezos have incredibly high output impedance (5+ mohm) so a buffer circuit is used to knock the impedance down to a sane level.

I tried building this circuit and while it works, it lacks any sort of bass amplification:

I didnt have a 100k resistor, so r3 is 170k. I also didnt have a .1uf, so c1 is 4.7uf. I tried raising the r2 to 5mohm and it sounded the same. v+ is 9v and vb+ is 4.5v...

Hi, new to the forum. Starting a thread on a tone circuit I've designed for a guitar I just acquired along with cheap SS amp and some other stuff. The guitar is a 2004 CII Squier Affinity Stratocaster and I'm going to mod the snot out of its controls. Previously I've tried a varitone type circuit in another guitar and didn't care for the rotary switch control, I kept getting cap popping noises when switching. I still wanted a circuit that would alter the tone by changing the tone capacitor...

I had the ATtiny working with the shift register, but when I added the IR receiver to the code the shift register did not work as desired.

I have a shift register connected to 8 LEDs and controlled by an ATtiny85. I also have a button and an IR receiver connected. The idea is to control the LEDs with my remote control using the minimal space required for an ATtiny.

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me design the wiring for my custom build solid body electric. I'm pretty good at soldering etc, but when it comes to designing the electrics, some assistance would be very helpful indeed.

It may be that someone could point me towards an existing guitar with similar electrics, but anyway.. here are the requirements I have in my mind..

The guitar is to have two pickups, a humbucker in the bridge (available with either two or four wires.....

Now if we want to demystify something useful, I wish one of our many superstars would layout a workalike for the suhr backplate silent single coil system.

It has been mentioned here before but I have found no one who can explain what more is at work here besides a wide dummy coil. Anyone have the knowledge? I would gladly nominate chipping in on this for someone to buy and layout for us.
$325 is stupid money for me and any sane non-recording professional player or middle class person.

Ok I thought I would share this since there might be others out there who have bought or own an epiphone special les paul.
I fell for the slash special II,nice guitar but really crappy tuners.

I had some tuning issues more like intonation that revealed themselves when using heavy distorted tones and highish volume.
So last night I decided to intonate the geetar again but I had to flip the 3rd 2nd and 1st saddles ,so I say might as well change the strings,then I go might as well change those...

A couple of years ago I bought a Johnson guitar body and neck at a flea market. no hardware and the neck was separate from the body ,it looked decent so i bought it for next to nothing ,the neck seems maple(the darker kind ) and the body who knows .I had parts at home so i decided to take a chance,last week decided to assemble it and to my suprise its a great guitar ,plays smooth fast neck,intonated very well but i cant find much info on johnson except that was a company out of arizona till...

Hi all,

Last weekend I've rewired my Gretch Electromatic Bo Diddley guitar as I personally don't really like the standard Gretsch controls of 1x volume per pup, 1x master volume and 1x master tone.

I wanted to try something like this:
* signal from each pickup into its own Fender TBX tone control

Looking for pointers as to whether folks think this'll work...

It's a mashup of a couple different ideas...

I have an Epiphone Wildkat hanging around...decent enough guitar...but the sound is very lackluster and pretty dark...

I'm ordering a Compton bridge for it...and new Kent Armstrong pickups.

Hi folks,

recently I bought a cheap Telecaster copy which plays and sounds quite decent so I decided to spend some work on it. I already rewired it to a Bill Lawrence 5-Way-Switch-Wiring (Sorry, couldn't find a proper schematic - only this wiring scheme: and I must say I really dig it. The half out of phase setting sounds cool as well as the bass cut neck PU setting (quite handy if you play powerchords on the neck with full fuzz on it).

heres my issue.

i rewired my strat. i have 3 humbuckers installed. a full size seymore duncan jb in the bridge, a sd jb jr in the middle single coil slot, and a sd hot rails (??) in the single slot neck position. i have each of them going into a 3-way switch to set them up for series, single coil, parallel operation, from there the signal goes to an on off switch for each pickup. the 3 wires from that then go to the vol/tone/output.

when i wired it up, it was dead silent. ( the cavities are...

A month ago i put two linear Alpha pushpull pots in my prs dc22.

After a week, one pot failed - short circuit when turned up to 10.

Now the second one has failed with the same fault.

Contact cleaner failed to fix either one.

So for me, 100% fail rate within a month for Alpha pots...

I've been getting into winding my own pickups. I was wondering if anyone has some general rules of thumb for designing neck/bridge pickups that work well together? Is it a good idea to have more turns in the bridge, or is it enough to just change magnets?

I realize it's kind of a subjective question, but wondering if anyone has some general findings that might be helpful.

First post so be gentle :D

Hello Folks,

I have recently bought a second hand Fernandes Zo-3 travel guitar

The electrics work fine but it only overdrives at quite loud volumes, I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to improve the overdriven sound at low volume? perhaps even add a bit of reverb, delay or chorus?
I know there are newer models and I should probably just sell it and buy one of them but where is the fun it that?
