I'm having a little trouble understanding mosfet clipping. My understanding is that there are two forms: the diode-connected mosfet (tying gate and drain together) and the body diode. However, when breadboarding around I found that it worked opposite from how I expected. Examples follow.
Here are the three layouts I used. I picked a mosfet symbol that showed the body diode as on the datasheet for the 2N7000 (the n-channel enhancement mode MOSFET I used):
I have some love & hate relationship with the Boss SD-1, maybe because twenty years ago it was my first 'serious' pedal... I have several units, from several years, some of them modded and others remain stock,...
About Boss' buffer, I've never had a trouble or complain about it. But, only for curiosity, and because (honestly) I'm not able to understand the flip-flop switch circuit, I'd like to know...
1) Is it possible to erase the input and output buffer of the circuit? And......
While thinking about the univibe tones and seeing the LDRs, that are agood match for their builds, starting to be phased out, i thought, if it would be possible to substitute the lamp and ldrs with 4 digital pots or dacs and program them for what ever resistance sweep one would wish. Would this be feasible and doable? Has it been done in one of the modern mass produced units?
Hi all
I'm looking to build an adjustable filter that is switchable slope between 1 and 2 poles. Minimising part count and complexity without sacrificing tone are the objectives. Both high and low pass filters are needed.
Options I'm looking at are:
1. Sallen-key for the 2 pole and RC for the 1 pole, switch selects between output of either. The highest part count and complexity but best tone(?)
2. RC filter in series with another RC filter. Switch selects between output of first or second...
Hello, sorry if im posting this in the wrong section, it's been a while since ive been on here. Anyway I was wondering if anyone has the layout for the screaminfx clarionix wah buffer? Or any recommend stand alone buffer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hello
Everyone knows that with the help of a field-effect transistor it is possible to simulate the operation of a triode, it is now actively used to create amplifiers in a box
But such circuits mimic only the work of the preamp
The terminal amplifier uses pentodes, there are not enough leads for simulating the transistor, are there ways of combining the transistor as mu-amp or something similar to simulate a pentode?
I need a small help in building a splitter to split the signal from my bass guitar to a balanced line driver and a bass amp. The circuit I'm looking at using for this purpose is . Just the splitter part of it. The question is will this work as intended? If yes, do I need to change capacitor values for bass? Also, I would like to control the volume to the amp (and maybe the line driver too) from the pedal itself, can this be done by changing both the 1M resistors on the right of the...
Hello my dear,
new user here! I'm opening this thread because I'm desperately searching for some help.
I have the schematic of the little Ashdown bass combo, the Perfect 10 (the most recent one they made, just a couple of years ago)...and I found the tone stack part rather unusual. I'm posting this thread in this section because I thought that it could be of some interest for some DIY design experiments.
Let me say, first of all, that I'm just a player with great curiosity about amplifiers and...
hi guys. does anybody know of a good lfo design that puts out two in phase waves...one with half or one quarter the freq of the other?. i think there was a phaser or something like that using this to take a glance but can't remember which one.
the main purpose is to make a sort of rotary speaker modulation...univibe based...where i can split signal for upper register...with normal univibe values of caps...and lows in parallel of that with different caps...and maybe only two stages for a not so...
Can you use a pot wired as a series resistor on the input of an OP amp? I have built the Red Fuzz from General Guitar Gadgets and placed one between the 1meg input resistor and the input cap.
Seems to work well. But at the highest resistance the high end drops a bit. I used 250k,I am going to try 100k.
friends please share the good scheme 3 Band Active(with op amp) tonestack with frequency response calculator
In Google there are a lot of different schemes, but no descriptions of how to calculate frequency
Many passive tonstack also without annotation
I've made a little experiment that was focused on differences between different types of opamps in TS808 like overdrive pedals.
The experiment was focused on:
- Harmonic content
- THD
- Freq. response
Here you have the clip with the experiment, along with some screen shoots - i will answer any questions that you might have and also i will participate in any discussions you like on this subject.
I will not pull any conclusions my self ... but you can post yours
All the necessary...
Hi!
Just like to know if it's possible to use a standard circuit for mid boost/cut to have it to boost only ?
Like a circuit with a gyrator to a op amp +\- inputs for boost / cut.
Can someone explain why Wampler in his some designs use a voltage divider for each half of IC's? In this schematic in att. is a two. In Plexitortion he use a four. :hmmm:
Hello,
I was trying to post this topic in the Circuit Block section but I didn't find the new topic button there...so I'm writing here.
I'm asking to everyone who knows how to help me understanding a particular case, which I've seen it's quite common in many, many preamp designs.
It's been a long time that I started to try to figure out how to calculate the actual bright boost involved when there is a capacitor with a resistor across it, and a potentiometer (ie a gain , or preamp volume...
Hello, first post here, but I've been reading many, many topics in this forum.
I'm asking if you can help me understanding the active eq section of this old Peavey preamp, the Raxx, version for bass...I thought that it could be interesting for some DIY projects maybe.
There are 3 controls, bottom , body and edge , which are basically bass, mid and treble....as you can see from the schematic, they are those 3 pots just after the post-gain pot (the master volume).
I really don't understand how to...
I have been lurking on this forum for some time and decided to join the discussion (though for the time being I will be doing far more absorbing than contributing). I have learned a ton reading the various threads and am amazed at the amount of knowledge this forum has to offer.
I downloaded the Duncan Tone Stack Calculator and was looking at the Big Muff Pi Tone Stack. My question concerns the Zsrc. I assume that has something to do with impedance. If I wanted to put that stack in...
I'm trying to build distortion pedal, it will be something similar to Boss metal zone or Electroharmonix metal muff, however it will have a different EQ and will be two channeled. :)
However I can't understand how one circuit block works in metal zone or metal muff schematic.
If you follow the link above,It's in upper left corner, connected to 3b OP amp's inverting input, made from C034, C035, R046, R053, Q010 and R054.
Perhaps someone can explain how it works or how it is...
I'm trying to build a High Pass Filter box to go at the end of my fx chain just before preamp. The only thing it needs for control is a pot for adjusting the cut off frequency. I've done some research and ordered the parts. I wanted the highest cut off frequency to be around 400Hz. Found an RC calculator and determined I wanted a .33uf cap and a 1K pot. If I calculated right, I'd get a cut off freq up to 482Hz. That's fine. So, I bought the parts and they arrived today.
I modified some schematics I found online that did not fit my needs. I wanted something with no FET's, one TL074, phase 180 switch. I was hoping someone could look at it and make suggestions.
