If this isn't the place to post this, let me know. I have it unboxed so if there are any shots you need, let me know.

There is another thread where MisterG posted a schematic of the 18V power circuit and a fix/mod for a clicking noise. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=23879

Wasn't this already found to be a copy of the OCD? Or maybe more appropriately the Ultimate Drive?

Got mine in the mail today. It's pretty much OCD with power section from Fred Briggs' Super version, dated about a year before the Glove was introduced. Tried to measure some of the missing cap values off the soldered components, but there are quite a few caps in parallel in the power section so those readings are more or less a waste of time. I did redraw the whole thing, using Stratotrasto's and Briggs' published schematics as a base (some might note resemblence). This is just an approximation and it may contain errors. Some of the excessive power filtering may be missing. However, when considering the sound of the unit, i'm fairly certain we can go with the OCD values on most of the caps. I don't feel like working with the SMD. I've omitted the switching and the LED (standard EHX true bypass), plus the ferrite bead used on the power jack.

I finally got around to doing a layout for this one. Since I am always looking for improvements, please let me know if you see layout issues that I should incorporate into my boards. I appreciate the feedback.

IMHO, the tracks should be as thick as practical and also increased the pad diameters in order to have a PCB lees prone to fail and more tolerate to future repairs, component changes, and so on.

Also, fill the unused areas of copper at both sides with ground planes helps to reduce noises in high gain designs.

Cheers,
Jose

Thank you for the comments Jose. The layout in the image is without the ground planes but would include them in the actual PCB. I generally try to keep components closest to the areas of the circuit to keep the traces short but as we all know, this isn't always possible given the controls and their position on the pedal.

I would like to hear about how folks layout their components as I see differing opinions on how this works or doesnt work in terms of signal quality/noise.

Hi, I have one, 2nd hand, very nice pedal (as OCD indeed)

I've noticed the Volume rises very quick from nothing to almost full on in the very first quarter of the rotation, making it a bit difficult to use it, is it something other ones notice?
I've seen there is a 100KB pot (like OCD) , maybe a 100KA could cure the problem making the pot more usable ?

Ok, I tried by myself (destroying the tiny switch unmounting the board but, whatever, I do like the Hi pos, so a soldered a short) it definitely worked, 100KA is way better to control the volume

Yes, a log taper (A100K) has a more usable curve for the lower area where our ears hear it. I sub log taper in pedal circuits for volume or gain at times so it is more usable.
