it's actually RG Keen's relay circuit but I modified it for use with a TQ2--L2-5V relay, and I grounded the effect's input when in bypass mode (his was floating open).

So the original transistors are 2N5172 or 2N5173?

thanks

The one I've got has 2N5172 for both transistors. I've also used BC547, 2N2222 and many other lower gain silicon transistors and got exactly the same results.

Hi Mictester thank you
I can also see in this pics the 2N5172 markings

I did some searches to buy 2N5172 or 2N5173 transistors,
the 2N5172 is really easy to find, but the 2N5173 I couldn't fine any source.

So I don't understand something,
if the original transistors are 2N5172 and if they are easy to source why it's the 2N5173 written in all the schematics and layouts I've seen for this pedal?

Maybe it was a typo in one schematic and then everyone followed the mistake

I think the DS66 has got higher gain than the 2n3565.
At least i paired the 2n3565 with a BC109C in my clone.
For less fuzz a NTE123A also works well.
