Anyone got information on these:
http://www.pedalspluseffectswarehouse.c ... s-ood9.htm

All I can find is that it is an updated version of the OD880....

Infact I'm interested in the whole of the Maxon range so if anyone has any other maxon schematics please can you stick a link down so I can check them out!

Cheers!

The name says everything: "Organ Overdrive"
- You are on the best way to it by drinking to much beer you will "overdrive" your liver

And while listening to the sound samples I got problems in my stomach:
Only one "Sauce(rful) Of Secrets"

Std. Maxon IC-I/O-buffer and some classic OD-circuit in the middle.

25mA power consumption, that's very high for a classic circuit, maybe there are LED-clippers inside.

I forgot to say that the OD-circuit is the old OD-880 and that it has +/-4,5V supply for the IC yielding in a bit more voltage swing.

IMHO there'a a charge pump inside doing the voltage splitting.

Good MC 741 are hard to get, hence that's the reason while they switched to 4558Ds.

From the description: "True Bypass Switching with 4PDT mechanical switch. No tone changes when switching bypass/effect."

What? Where is that? Is it a microswitch hidden under the actuator like found on the current Behringer "Vintage" series pedals? Why 4 poles? I don't get it. When did they stop using the electronic switching?

Okay, I looked it up on the Maxon website. Apparently, they actually do use a 4PDT microswitch under the actuator. They claim that they had to start using the 4 pole switch for those effects that have dual outputs and then they just started putting it in all of them to please those people who demand 3PDT bypass switching. Hmmm.... interesting.

Maxon found taste on the booteek-spirit:

$ 195,-- for a new "invention" to the 9-series:
https://cgi.ebay.com/Maxon-OOD-9-Organi ... dZViewItem

Somebody knows what the new myth:
post-integration overdrive circuit
should be ? .....discrete would be "pre-integration"....maybe this has to do with "masters" and the integration of "slaves" ?

Somehow that pedal looks familiar. Dejavu or something. Can't seem to figure it out.

Dear all,
Has anyone ever seen the guts of the MAXON OOD-9? Its function puzzles me, but not so much as to shell out $260 for a direct purchase.
Here's what's in the description I found online (at ebay, not Maxon):
"Overdrive sound from post-integration circuit smoothly changes according to input level, offering highly dynamic response to picking technique. Creates mild and warm overdrive like that of a tube amplifier. Industry-standard op-amp, JRC NJM4558D offers low-noise overdrive sound. Employs a passive type overdrive circuit which differs from OD808/OD9. OOD9 is most effective with tube amp, using like a booster."
What in the world is passive type overdrive? What's the battery for, LED? :)
Maxon website quotes OD880 circuit as main inspiration.

I'm thinking...
:)

It is indeed, but no schematic. :) I thought of a charge pump too, that would explain higher current draw.

You didnt ask for a schematic...you asked if anyone had seen the guts, what a passive od was, and what was the battery for . :D :D :D :D :D

seriously though... i'm sure AG will merge the threads together, as this really should have been added to one of the existing threads.

The clips sound fizzy and muffled to me. Also most of those Maxon/Ibanez pedals are best used as a boost with the gain down (except for the Ibby OD9/OD850 which are fuzzes) so no change there.

You're right... those clips are horrible.
