Try as I might, I could NOT find a schematic on the internet. Service manual is available, but it does not detail the operation of the "MODE" switch, and does not provide a schematic. So, I traced it.

Finally! I schematic detailing the inner workings of the elusive TS9DX, and associated modes. All in all, its a Tube Screamer. Surprised? There are some unique qualities to the TS9DX, and some of the modes may surprise you.

Without further ado, here is the schematic. Now the internet has a reference. Enjoy!

I think there should be a link wire between the mode switch sw1a and sw1b common terminals

Right on all accounts. Sorry guys. I got lazy and forgetful.

I'll make corrections, add the bypass circuitry and additional notes specifying opamp and any other pertinent information.

As far as the dual-ganged 250k pot, WTF? It works, right? Maybe it was readily available and/or cheaper than a 500k? I thought it was a little strange/unusual as well.

PS: bajaman, I don't follow your suggestion. Can you expand? SW1A selects clipping diode options (or lack thereof in the "TURBO" mode) while SW1B selects feedback loop bypass cap. Did I mis-understand you, or make and error?

There should still be a connection from those caps to the inverting input of the opamp. Check a standard TS schem for reference and see how they've added the switch and you'll see what Baja means.

Just a stock TS with switchable Cs on the R/C-network and switchable FB-loop clippers.

Stock TS9DX:

the 4.7k R is unchanged in all modes

TS9-mode: 0.047nF+2 Si-diodes
+mode: 0.22nF +4 Si-diodes
hot-mode: 1.0nF+2 red LED+470kin parallel with the LEDs
(I'm, not sure about this, 'cos I've seen a DX with 4 Si-diodes in this mode and no 470k)
Turbo-mode: 2.2uF+none diodes



Analog Man TS9DX:
classic and silver mod on request and mode-mod

TS9-mode: 0.047nF+2 Si-diodes
+mode: 0.1nF+4 Si-diodes
hot-mode: 0.1nF+3 Si-diodes
Turbo-mode: 0,22nF+3 Si-diodes

The keeley mod is similar. You can find info about his mod on the web. Use google.

Bypass is omitted. Its the standard Ibanez flip-flop circuit.

What sense does that dual gang drive pot make? Wouldn´t a simple 500k pot give the same results?

Yes, roseblood. It would perform the same function.
It struck me as odd when I saw it, but that's what's in there. Maybe they had a huge stock-pile of dual ganged pots, or maybe they were super cheap or maybe.... you get the idea.
Who knows. Works the same.

When paying a few bucks saves me hours of tracing for example. Or when I get the real service manual including setup procedures.

Most stuff I come across is readily available, with a few exceptions. Those are the bummers. This schematic eliminates one of em.

I hope you don't mind me posting this question here but I was hoping someone may be able to help. I'm currently repairing a turbo tube screamer that's taken a kick on stage and damaged the drive pot. I've spent a good coupe of hours now searching manufacturer and parts site for a replacement and I'm not having any luck. The alps web site doesn't even list a 250k pot in any of the dual gang versions I can find. Has anyone got any ideas as to where I might be able to get on. Or failing that a 500k that I can use in it's place.
