are the diodes before or after the 7812?
i think that everything before the 7812 could be omitted becouse it's probably just transformer stuff.
how could i help?

Interesting pics!
I think the most we can get out of them is the building and assembling of the pedal... looks pretty neat.
But soundwise, I really don´t get what´s all the hype about... http://www.ebssweden.com/2009/valvedrive.htm IMHO the overdrive itself is pretty mediocre... there are way better (and more affordable) solidstate devices. Again, this is only my opinion.

I think I'll design something with a similar approach (bass tube Overdrive/Preamp pedal) but probably would use a really nice Tube Preamp (Alembic F2B probably) as a good (amazing actually) clean base tone, and then add as a second channel the with a 3 band active EQ, plus balanced output.

Well, at the end if wether is worth building it or not, it´s compeltely up to the DIYer :D.
Cheers and thanks again for sharing the pics!

Greetings from the snowy Helsinki

Doug.

probably you have right.
but as bass player i think that everything could help to learn how to modify an effect to have a good sound with bass is usefull.
it could be a good approach to the tube effects.

Not that they are bad, but I want no ICs or trannies when I go tube...

That series of 1n4148 diodes and the way they're connected suggest diode clipping. That's fine when going tube?
Sorry. Plain out of planes.

Ha ! yes 5 in4148 in series in one direction and 5 in series in the other direction, connected in parallel, defo diode clipping going on there.
It's fairly straight forward, if you want to start it , press start. You can work out the rest of the controls for yourself !

No silicon heaven ? preposterous ! Where would all the calculators go ?

You can find it in this thread, but it has no valves it turns out to be more or less a zendrive.

Bumping the old thread.. It has many gut pics of the original ValveDrive released in 2006. EBS has replaced it with ValveDrive DI in 2014. Does anyone have gut pics of the new ValveDrive DI? Could you post it? Thanks!
