sorry for the dumb question guys, I'm trying to learn some electronics...
1) what is the different between Vbias and Vcc in Dirk's schematics?
2) can I remove the dry output section?
3) in the bottom-right part of the schematic, what is the foot-switch referring to? are we using a 3dpt?
4) what is physically sw1.a and sw1.b?
5) what is block of 2 resistors and a capacitor in the middle left doing?
6) where are the third legs of the P1 and P2 pots going?
7) can I put everything on a single faced pcb?
and, more importantly:
were can I learn what the different parts of the circuit do in a guitar pedal? I admire how you guys can analyze the difference that a cap or a resistor will do on the circuit, and I'd like to master this ability... I'm an aerospace engineering grad student, and I do studied simple electric circuits, however I have no idea of the effect that different component and component values will have on a circuit...
Thanks for your help,
Andrea

Also, what is the dry output section for?
1) Vcc is the supply voltage, in this case 9V. Vbias is sometimes also called Vref and is the virtual ground. It is mostly half of Vcc, so 4,5Vfrusciante89 wrote:sorry for the dumb question guys, I'm trying to learn some electronics...

2) Yes, as it feeds its own output
3) Sw2 is refering to the footswitch. I think the original has a DPDT but only one switching element (ebene if you speek german) is used. You can use almost any switch as long as it has at least 1 switching element. SPST, DPDT, 3PDT....
4) Sw1 is a double pull single throw (dpst) switch. Imagine a switch that has two switches inside and both get switched by the same lever
5) See number 3. This network creates Vref.
6) They are not connected. P1 and P2 are used as variable resistances, so only two legs are needed.
7) Sure, why not?

Hi guys, I just got my WH10v2 but I´m a noob when it comes to schematics . I can solder and have done stuff on pedals but could anyone shed a light on my doubts. First I know I don't have to remove the resistors completely, just desolder on side, but which one? the one on the trace that goes straight to the switch? do I have to solder the leads directly to the end of the resistors? I appreciate any help on this
