I added a simple DPDT switch to control the caps; made the most difference;

The cap across the level pot didn't do a lot on it's own (keeps it from oscillating), the other cap made a lot of difference in the treble response.

I LOVE IT!

Yeah, but the cool thing about this mod, IMO, is the potential to get digital and analog(-like) sounds out of one pedal.

switches are for doubting Thomas and knob twiddlers - insert one if you must BUT you won't use the stock setting once you hear what the mods do to the sound of these pedals

Well, I like both now as they sound so different :)

And in the tape mode the unit won't oscillate

saved from a thread on diystompboxes:
Another cool mod is a feedback loop. Locate the wire that goes from the wiper of the feedback pot back to the main board. Send it through a switching (normally-closed) TRS jack that you put in place of the dry out jack. With nothing plugged into the feedback loop, the pedal works as normal. But when you plug a stereo "Y" cable in, you can add effects in the feedback loop so that each repeat gets more effect. Cool for dub-style.

These jacks have six terminals. Three are the normal tip, ring, and sleeve connections. The remaining three are switched contacts that are connected to the other pins when a jack is not inserted.

Jumper from the wiper to the tip connection to make the send, because it doesn't get shorted to ground if you plug a mono plug in. The tip connection should also have a jumper to the switched ring connection. The normal ring connection then goes to the wire that was originally connected to the wiper. This is your return. The sleeve gets connected to ground.

note: try to keep effects at unity gain to prevent overloading the mixing stage.

I've got a folder full of DD2 mods, but until now I've been too scared to do any. If I could make Baja's mods switchable (to retain oscillation) I'd go for it. It's a bloody tight fit in that enclosure though!

Does anyone know if this jack would work with the fx loop mod?

I guess these ones have all the switching you want :
http://www.banzaieffects.com/Jack-6-3-S ... 20099.html
http://www.banzaieffects.com/Taiwan-jac ... 18634.html
and they both are a bit cheaper.

But anything looking like that should work too : http://www.banzaieffects.com/Cliff-STE- ... 19694.html

Anybody can Help Me ?
I've a new question : how can I can make the "High Frequency Delay" on the DD-6, because adding a capacitor to the plug of the Feedback pot doesn't work.

yeah I know it because the DD-6 is a recent pedal.
Yesterday, i've test the "Bass Cut Mod" with solder a capacitor of 2n2 at plug 1 and 3 of the feedback know what does ... nothing !
Seriously, nobody has test any mod on the DD-6 ?

I presume these mods will work for a DSD-2 as well?
I have to open the sucker up and see how much the insides differ. The sound is not too great as it is, but still i'd probably like to have the "digital" sound behind a switch. And an fx-loop would be very nice also. Haven't found much use for the looping or triggering functions, it's too limited and lo-fi, so might just take that jack for it.

 thank you BajaMan!!!
I've had a dd3-a since 96. These mods are absolutely stunning.
It's like Lee Perry possessed my pedal!

These are mods I have done on several customers Boss DD2 or DD3 pedals to obtain a more realistic tape echo sounding device.
naturally - only a tape echo sounds like a tape echo  , but these mods will certainly get you closer to a tape echo sound (without the noisy and inconvenient tape loops).

bajaman

ps: check out that nice input buffer too.

Recently I got a non-working Mid-80s DD-2 for free :D .
Repaired it (only one broken cable and two broken pots) and immediately performed the Baja/FSB-DD2 mod.

Works like a charm and considering that it only contains four new parts it is amazing how much better it sounds afterwards !

Thanks Baja and happy New Year to you all !! :thumbsup
