I just watched this ebay auction close and thought I would point it out. The auction was for a 7 Lb. box of unmarked PNP Germaniums. I emailed the seller and asked if any testing was done and he replied "with an ohmmeter only". Whatever that is supposed to mean!

He probably meant he just did a front to back test to see if they test "good" and conduct. This does not tell you gain though.
