Due to the problems with getting genuine MN3005 ICs, it's been suggested that we do a group buy of the CoolAudio V3205 instead. Since CoolAudio requires a minimum order of $2000 it's been suggested that we order some of the other parts they offer as well. Vote in the poll to decide what we want to order and please base your decision on the 10 piece price. If we can get enough orders for each part we'll get a lower price but final prices won't be decided until the poll is closed. At that time I'll create a spreadsheet with final prices and you'll be able to place your order.
Remember I'll need to add on a bit for customs and handling by CoolAudio. You'll also be responsible for the shipping cost to you when your order is shipped, typically about $5 in the US and around $13 international.

Uhmmm.

I don't know much, but I know how to read a pin out on a datasheet; from what I can tell, the Aquaboy is designed around a MN3101 chip, and the V3102 is a copy of a MN3102, whose pins 1 and 3 (VDD and VSS) are reversed from the MN3101 (1/3 = Gnd/VDD).

Sorry if I'm just ignorant of what VSS is and also if this has been explained already in another thread. Will someone enlighten me please?

Thanks

From Wikipedia: VSS, a label used for negative power supply pin on Field-effect transistor-based integrated circuits (historically, S stands for source)

Short answer: ground

Thanks,

But this still doesn't explain how you can use a V3102 in place of the MN3101; whose pin-outs for 1 and 3 are reversed.

MN3101 are to drive the 3XX5 series of delay chips, MN3102 drive the 32X5 chips, one's positive and the other is negative I forget which but there are two jumpers on the new Aqua Puss boards specifically for this reason.

i think you mistake the mn3101 with the mn3005. the aqua boy can use the mn3005, mn3205 or the v3205 depending on how you set the jumpers...

Yes, now this makes sense to me. So you can't use the v3102 with a MN3005, but you could with a MN3205.

Does anyone know if the v3205 chips can work in the old red aquapuss boards from Abfackeln?

So far, so good. I think I'll be putting the order together soon so everyone needs to get their orders in.

Check the spreadsheet to see if your order is correct. Some people didn't include their FSB username so their orders were removed. Anyone who put in more than one order had their orders combined.

I am about to put in my order.

Quick question: what happens if the total amount does not reach the minimum required amount for a part? Will the order for that part be dropped?

We'll order at least the 10 pc price. No worries there.

Maybe this helps:
abfackeln wrote:The MN3005 has a better signal to noise ratio than the MN3205 (75dB vs 67dB, according to the datasheets), and the 3005 can handle higher voltages (12v, 18v) for more headroom, wheras the 3205 can only take 9v.
I have two other delays with the 3205 in them, and while they sound good, the 3005 definitely sounds better (to my ears, anyway).
Can't find the post, but I think it was Madbean who said he couldn't really tell them apart in his AP build.

ymmv
