Nice idea about the bias! As soon as I get the cabs then I will be making some clips, might hear the neighbours complaining in background though! haha

Hello guys

I'd like to ask you about schematic.

What does the orange arrow represent? Shielded wire?

What is the voltage level of "X" PT tap?

Thanks.

Ferrite beads and 50V I guess.

Imho I think the orange arrows stand for shielded cable.

Yes, that's how I would interpret it.

Whats that metal box (not the transformers) on top of your amp chassis, near the preamp tubes?

Sorry for such a delay.

This houses the 6v voltage rectifier to power the led's and switching power and the switching relays. It gets its power from the heater voltage, all cables fed through chassis.

The cabs arrive today so will post the pics once amp installed :)

Happy New Year All!

Thought might like to see amp in cab! waiting on the celestions (1 x vintage 30 and 1 x creamback) to go in cab.

Cabs were made by Chris Uff, who advertises through Amp Maker. Great build!

Once speakers loaded will crank it up for some sound bites!

I have cranked it and to be honest it seems all ok! the PT seems to be working fine and not getting hot, only warm from the massive gold lions (which are great!)

Here is the final schematic with switching and bias component change. I had to tweak the resistors in the bias circuitry to get the desired bias (38ma for me at mo)
mazz66-v2.JPG
The 66 chanel sounds pretty much like the 66 i tried at a local shop. the Mazz chanel sounds great too, harder than the 66, and much more like a jtm 45/plexi with kt66

I am waiting on the cab to be made for the amp and speaker (from cabs by chris, ampmaker)

will be fitting into this
TWEXPHeadcabgreenfrontview44.jpg
The cab will be based on the Drz 2 x 12 which has a mix of a vintage 30 celestion and a 12h greenback but i will be using the vintage 30 (50w) and one of the new creambacks (60w)

Hope all this info helps

Chris

Hello ukbrightonbloke,
My apologies for resurrecting a 4yr 3mo old thread.
I stumbled onto this and love your design. Fantastic that you combined 2 channels into one amp. To get to the point, is there any way you would be willing to share the layout and BOM ?
My intentions are purely to build one for myself and enjoy the tone.
I understand the basics of a schematic, but a wiring layout would be ideal.
All the best,
-Jeff

I did simulate the bias voltage circuit by the PSU-DesignerII,
where the 4.7 Kiloohms resistor was moved to the transformer winding.
The resistor works in the samer manner, because the DC-resistance of the coil is connected in series to the filter circuit.
So I found 65 Volts for the level of the PT "X" tap.
Using 60 Volts the circuit could also work, but in a smaller range.
