Small "Tripletone" tube amp
Hi all, I have recently been given a small tube amp,

I'd like to make a 1-5watt guitar amp from it, but how can I determine if its useful or not! ?

hi, the small tube behind the OT is a 6BR7 , the middle tube is unmarked! and the tue nearest the PT is an Ez80.
- Nikifena
- Solder Soldier
try to find some EL84 tube to see is this tube el84.
If it is el84 than you can make a small SE with this tube.
Also try to find output impedance of the output transformer. Oldest tube amplifier sometimes have strange output impedance like 6ohm - old german REGENT amplifier, and use 6ohm speakers. Better is to use the same impedance of the output transformer for the speaker, else you may become a problems.
Than go to this page:
http://www.ax84.com/
and find something usefull.
Also try to repair this amp
Maybe this small jurk will have a good sound
PS: sorry about my bad english

no need to apologise for your english, its fine
I dont mind exchanging the tubes for others, to fit a project. I had a look at the P1 project at ax84.com, it would be great to use it for that!
as for repairing it...I have no idea! it looks like someone has messed with it so I dont trust the circuit as is, I will test the OT tranny with a small ac supply
to try and determine the impedance ratio etc. The PT needs checking too.
I found a site with a little info on Tripletone amps, with an example of one like mine, perhaps a larger output version.
