Because you haven't really given any information. If you want help debugging a build then we need to know what layout you used, see pictures of the board, voltages of the transistors and ICs. So sometimes people are waiting for the person with the problem to post a little more information.
Crackling can be caused by a few things, and sometimes it's expected, but not with this circuit. When I hear someone has a problem with an effect crackling the first thing I think of is that there is a bad connection somewhere. A bad solder joint can cause all sorts of noise, but again we'd be in a better position to help if we could see a pic and so had a good idea of the soldering job you'd done and maybe point out a few areas to check.
Post pics and voltages and I'm sure you'll get more people willing to help.

You could also try posting in one of the more relevant sections.

I guess it's true bypass - check for bad solder joints at the switch and eventually the jacks. Check the guitar cable too.ballfire wrote:theres a very slight distortion effect when the effect is off..
