It's a New Era at TGP

Well, we'll see. In theory, no more threads taken down because someone doesn't like being criticized...

There is a new Freekish Blues thread up which is quite critical and has not yet been censored...

Please, do tell!

I'm a vocal critic of the boutiquers that say "give your pedal a couple of days for the caps to form, so that it sounds better."

BETTER? Okay, if they really are forming (which I doubt at 9.6VDC and electros being made ridiculously well nowadays) what constitutes "better?" If that's true, than it can equally drift towards "worse" and nobody would stake THAT claim. It's BS.

my god...

I don't fucking believe it.
Good points. We need to face that 1% of GAS is based on need, and 99% of GAS is based on marketing and hype. TGP exists to create a hole in your soul that can only be filled by the most recently hyped product.... which is better than last month's hyped product.

seems like some of them are finally wising up.

It should be a better forum now.
You know, I do search the Gear Page for info about guitar parts, pickups, and tubes.
I still have no interest for the forum view of pedals. not my scene. I like this place.

Could it be that some of the controversies on FreeStompBoxes have played a part in a more intelligent approach at TGP.. esp. the Lovepedal Amp 11 discussions ?

I think so, yes.

That and they spoke with an attorney about liability over libel and realized they had far less exposure than they thought. But I think that discussion eventually took place because of the onslaught of reverse engineering and "exposing" we do.

We're "declassified"? No more "The Other Forum"? Flirt with us is not hype enough?

Well, if anything, I just hope this "new era" leads to more harmonious relationships between we freestompboxes.org members, and those of TGP....let peace and prosperity reign, I say.... :thumbsup
