Cool, I always wanted to try that with the soundcard. I didn't even get the idea there could be already software for that .

I get the idea, but don't understand how it's done hardware-wise. Could somebody explain how to hook up the circuit to the soundcard?

If you'd like to use the software function generator first mute the Line In in the soundcards playback mixer.
Then:
- connect the line out to your FX input
- connect the output of your FX to the line input of the souncard.
To mimic the guitar amp input and to protect the lineIn on the soudcard i'd use some opamp based 1M input Z buffer with protection diodes, or even better - instead of the 1M resistor i'd use a 1M log pot to have the input level control.
I'm using the VisualAnalyser for some time and it's simply great for developing low frequency (<audio band) circuits.
As an example, here's a yt movie i did once, its an OD based on Arsenio Novo's circuit:
Then:
- connect the line out to your FX input
- connect the output of your FX to the line input of the souncard.

So your saying you connect the Line Out on the computer to the FX input.
Connect the FX output to the Line Input of the soundcard/computer.
I thought I would try to use my audio interface (Tascam US-122L) with a guitar cable I clipped off one end and put an alligator clip on the ground and a probe on the tip. I clipped the alligator clip to the ground and probed around with the probe. It almost seems to work. Am I completely off by doing this? I am getting readings but nothing like a square wave or anything. Do I need to put a signal through the circuit? I did power the circuit up with a battery. Sorry, I never used an oscilloscope before. There doesn't seem to be much instruction on how to actually use it or hook it up.
