Fuzz Pedal WORKS, but NO CLEAN BYPASSEd SIGNaL HElP

Postby Rawpower6 » 08 Aug 2014, 01:15

Hello, the bazz fuss I built works great when on, but when bypassed there is no clean signal at all, so it only works when it's on. I have the spdt wired with lug 1 to output jack, lug 2 to board output, and lug 3 to input jack. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again, works great when on, but when it's bypassed there's no clean signal going through, no signal or noise at all. Thanks so much!

Lug 2 on a spdt is the one always connected, so you'll need to connect lug 2 to the output jack, and then lug 1 and 3 to fuzz out and bypassed signal respectively. Which way around doesn't really matter ;)

You need a DPDT at least if you want to bypass an effect: The best you can get with a SPDT is to have the guitar feed both the fuzz input AND the lug 3 of the SPDT, send the fuzz output to lug 1, take the output to the amplifier from the common/lug 2 as suggested above. However, in "bypass", the guitar signal will still be connected to input to the fuzz circuit and this can cause unwanted effects.

Using a DPDT, the simplest bypass (with no LED):

or any of these use a 3PDT if you want an led:
