FYA Jazz Driver

Postby mirosol » 14 Feb 2016, 10:30

Guess i was bored and high on coffee overdose last night. Around 11 p.m. i grabbed my small breadboard and came up with this. Nothing special or fancy. Just JFET adaptation of the Electra with simplest treble cut control disguised as "tone". The 4 clipping diodes keep the volume at nice boosting level while still contribute in nice, slow bubbling clipping that's highly dynamic - reacting to guitar controls and the way one plays quite decently. The lows are somewat boomy and i wouldn't descibe them as "tight". This loose low end paired with sizzling highs seems to work for me.

Still. Nothing new or great, just straight forward OD. Use guitar pots as gain control as needed. Thought i'd share, may someone find this usable.

Nice! I built something similar a few years back. Mine had a variable cap setup on the front end to adjust how much bottom end is let into the circuit and I had a bunch of switchable clipping setups on the back end. The Electra is a great canvas to play with, just ask lovepedal :D .
