Is it the v1.11 or the 1.21 ?

The 25 october we will make an a/b test between the diefet and the original amp, so be careful to last value modifications ;)

version 1, but I change some value.
bass 220n, mid 220n, pres 33n
R21 : 4,7k
39k > 3,9k

Interesting!

Why did change these values ? How it change the sound ?

"Version 1" is the 1.11 or the 1.21 ?

Hi,
I have build the version 1.21 as a two channel version :D , see at the link. I create a new layout with a dc/dc coupler LTC1044 for more Voltage. The voltage approx 17V. The tonestack is not good. the circuit is very bassy and has no differnt highs or mids. I still must experiment a little. The whole then shall into a 1590 DD.

I've build version 1.1 and am very happy with the results so far. I especially love the deep control which allows me to play these Muse type single string riffs without them sounding too whimpy.

I play this as a 'preamp' straight into the poweramp of my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and love the sound I'm getting out of my amp now (EQ-20 in between but not used for this).

The only change I made was to remove the presence control (as it causes the treble control sweep effect on the tonestack which I don't like). The poweramp of my Fender HRD has a presence control that I use for presence anyway.

Looking forward to modding this to version 1.21 soon...

Thanks for all the work ech0es!

I didn't heard any problem about the tonestack... maybe you should check your circuit... or ask on techniguitare

What are the difference between your two channels ?

Keep in mind that the commercial use is forbidden

MORE VOLUME MOD:
Cancel the last 220k resistor and 100p capacitor and put a jumper in their place.

MORE DISTORTION MOD:
Decrease the voltage of the last trimmer

Which do you like better? The Diefet seemed a little more fuller?

I have just finished both the Dr. Boogey and the DieFET and I must say that the DieFET is much preferred in my case. I love how full and clean it sounds. The Dr. Boogey is a little buzzy, but then again, I still have to go in and bias it by ear, as I think I might be able to get better sounds than just the stock 4.5V biasing. I used Gerritt's layout and left out the presence control but with all other version 1.21 mods and it sounds great. I am sure I will find a good place for the Boogey as well, but the DieFET has become my high gain pedal of choice. Just my two cents' worth.

So I built this circuit, but I'm having a couple issues.
It seems that the volume is super low, but is working otherwise.
I've even done the replacement of the 220k resistor for a jumper on the output; didn't help much.
Also, the circuit works ok (but at super low volume) when the Deep control is turned all the way down, but if you turn it about a 1/10th of a turn, you can hear some changes in tone, then the rest of the turn makes it go into a high pitched hum that varies in pitch as you turn it up.
I've went over the layout, but there's so much overlapping on the part numbers on the yellow print of the parts diagram that there are a few pieces I'm not 100% sure about. (I haven't yet followed out the circuit by using the schematic.)

I can pull the TL072 chip from the socket and the high pitched hum goes away and you can hear the clipping from the J201's - I have tried a different TL072, same hum.

Does anyone have any suggestions aside from confirming the circuit against the schematic?
If not, does anybody have a better version of the layout that's easier to read?

Also, can someone tell me how to make it a 2 channel version?

Share your settings!

My Matthew bellamy/Wes Borland settings:

GAIN: 2h30
VOL: 4h30
DEEP: 10h30
BASS: 9h30
MIDDLE: 3h
TREBLE: 3h
PRESENCE: 3h30

Use the volume pot of your guitar to experiment several level of crunch (slight crunch-->Fat ass crunch)

A layman's question: how's the noise on DIEFET? Is it noisier than GaussMarkov's Dr. Boogey?

I ask because GaussMarkov's Dr. Boogey is a very quiet pedal - Miller caps, power filtering and all. Were the same design principles used on the DIEFET?

same power filtering if i remember correctly. It's a very quiet pedal in my rig, it's noisy if you use an heavy fuzz in front of it

Lug 3 & 2 of MID pot are shorted. Are they supposedly on the actual vh4's?

So Echoes, what ever happened to the "dynamic" control, what is it and where did it go in the schem? I have already built one and like it, but I am thinking of doing another one with some few mods to see what I get.

The DEEP(which was copied at ROG's Thor) section reduces the output volume about a half.
