Hey Guys,
I just wanted to add this to our DIY collection here.
This caused a couple of pissing-matches over at the other forum
when it was discovered and posted about.

Hi Mark nice layout, i did mine in a perfboard, following your pcb layout; it turned out great :) . BTW did you use a linear taper for the gain pot? because i did and find it a little hard to control, maybe a rev log taper is recommended?

A 5k rev log pot for gain and a 100k/50k audio for the volume pot work well.

How does it compare to the SHO / ViagraTone?

To me it sounded lame but, it could have been the BS170 I used.
That was, well IS the first stage of the BOR.
I was building everything that even resembled a Booster at that time!
Which reminds me, I have a BOR build I should post.

The Zenith was not designed as a guitar-boost, as far as I remember it's a headphone driver. Look at the part values, maybe that's the reason for the whimpy sound.

It does resemble the SHO quite a bit though.
