Wal bass electronics
Hi all.
Im a newbie, im Jason from little old England. Thanks for any replies or info I receive in advance.
What im after is replicating as near as possible the electronics from a Wal Bass. I have seen the details/diagrams for the pickups ie each pickup is made up of 8 individual wound magnets etc. But for me the magic of the Wal tone is hidden in the preamp/eq electronics and im struggling to find any info on how they work?
has anyone ever dissected the circuits or could you point me to where i can find them.
Can someone explain the theory behind the magic please.
again many thanks in advance.

Can't help you here.
But when you say Wal I associate that to Geddy Lee in "Moving Pictures". And that is a sound to aim for!

There's a yahoo group dedicated to Wal basses, I've seen mention of schematics available to group members

... multiple LFO waveforms (saw up, saw down, triangle, square); a more flexible envelope with attack/release controls as well as inverted envelope. I am afraid it will have more knobs than the TGP annual convention - frequencycentral

Be advised that that particular schematic is for the older Wal basses, not the modern ones with the two filters and DI out.
"It crackles....., but that's ok"
