I'm making a batch of pedals and I got an order today of capacitors but where I needed 47uf I got 0.47uf and I'm wondering what's the difference ?

I'm not even gonna try it until someone can tell me what the difference would be.

Btw, the pedal is a very simple booster.

I suppose the difference is about 46.53uF +/- whatever tolereance your caps have!? :horsey: :blackeye

The difference is 1:100 so all your frequency responses will be divided (or multiplied) by 100. Depending on in what part of the circuit, and fullfilling what function they were, that could be a problem or not. (Mostly sure: yes)

... and you don't know if there is much difference between 47 and 0.47??

Interesting :hmmm:

Get some 47uF and save the 470n for something else - they ain't gonna cut it place of 47uF.

0.47uF is about 1/100 of 47uF, if the 47uF cap is part of the supply rail filtering then using a 0.47uF in place of a 47uF is not going to work as effectively at filtering the supply rail.... :hmmm:

I was just wondering what effect it would have. I know there's a huge difference between them. Like I stated before, I'm not even going to try it out, it was just a speculation. I have ordered the correct ones and I'll save the others for another use later. I didn't mean to sound stupid there hah :?

Tell us in what part of the circuit is, or better, show us an schematic, and we might figure a more precise answer.

C3 (47u) is there for power supply filtering. Changing it's value (or omitting it altogether) wouldn't change the sound or the frequency response, just would make the circuit more prone to hum due to supply ripple.

Thanks! That's exactly the answer I was looking for. I'm still about to learn so much about these things!

I'd suggest making C3 anywhere from 100uF to 470uF in value, the bigger the value, the better it's able to do it's job of filtering the power supply as a rule-of-thumb.... :hmmm:
