okay retarded question but is there a reason i can't find any 22nf caps on http://www.smallbearelec.com/StoreFront.bok ?

do they use m for micro, because while that doesn't make any sense, it would make a lot of sense.

Yes they use m for micro. So what you want is .022mf

Never underestimate the scope of people (especially, I am sorry to say, americans) to use absolutely bizarre labelling practises contrary to the rest of the world and even to common sense.

i don't think it's america's fault if you can't convert nF to mF.

I mean using "m" for "micro" instead of μ or u, when it already means "milli" in the SI system.

Dont know about you, but I dont have a mu on my keyboard and 99.9% of Steve's customers probably dont either. It would be silly to label them with a character people couldn't type in the search bar.

for the record, i don't know where the damn mu is on my keyboard either, so i use uF for all of my labeling. but i'm also not going to shit my pants when i see mF used, because i've seen it many times, and i know what is trying to be said. millifarads is something i have NEVER seen used before, so it's basic common sense, whether it's proper or not.

next we are going to be arguing over how to pronounce solder.

why is this in the Fleshhead thread anyway??? time to cut out the cancer.

AltGr is the right hand 'alt' key.

I just don't see any reason not to use a u, especially when on the same website they're selling inductors in millihenries as mH.

Hi,

even though it is not labeled on your keyboard alt gr + m should work. "µ" is labeled both on my netbook as on my pc keys.

I fully agree with hides-his-eyes or mictester, if you're writing about electronics the right terms are essential!:)

"µ"... I have a µ on my keyboard. Just SHIFT + "*" and that's it...

Sure about that?  God, I wasn't laughing that much an hour ago when I converted 9/16" into millimeters...

I can't remember what I did, but I was able to create that character on my keyboard once.

If I ever figure it out again, I'll have to write the keystrokes on a Post-it and put it on the wall with all the other stuff I should remember, but don't.

Chris, check out this page for some handy ASCII codes:
http://usefulshortcuts.com/alt-codes/ma ... -codes.php

For micro, hold down ALT and then type in 230 with the number keys, then let go of ALT.

Or in Word, you can go to Insert > Symbols and select the symbol from the list.

Or, on a Mac, just do Option+m.
