I've stumbled onto a rather large cache of 51 different types of germanium transistors from the 2N family. The list below is just a small sample. I'm seeking information from those who have had good or bad experiences with these types in FF circuits.

PNP
2N404
2N526
2N651A
2N652A

NPN
2N1302
2N1304

Hi there:

I've got very little experience with germaniums, except that they're necessary for some of the older preamp circuits that are on my build list.

They sound interesting... Are you looking to sell any? (rather large can mean 30 transistors to some folks, 30,000 to others).

Thanks
BG

As long as they are not too leaky and not too low gain 2N404, 2N1302, & 2N1304 should be great in a Fuzz Face.

You can google for the datasheets, but even then you should test them for gain and leakage... Or build a fuzz face setup with some trimmers for biasings resistors and just plug and play until you find some that work.
