How to print white (colored) text on dark painted pedals?

Frequent question about boxes and accessories: painting, etching, clearcoating, lettering, glueing, and so on.

Do i need to silk screen?
I've been using waterslide decal paper,
but perhaps it won't work -- since I need white colored
graphics and text on top of a dark colored painted enclosure.

Any ideas?

ALPS makes special printers that print white on decal stock.

These guys have a relatively low cost system for producing decals with white text or background. A couple of people I know in the design field use it and report good results. I've been using their toner transfer paper for pcbs with decent results.
