Well - I just woke up - read the thread - what a waste of words over nothing - some good points made, but a lot of hot air and steam as well.
The soft switching wouldn't be done with optocouplers by chance??
Anyway, time for breakfast and then out to the repairs bench, for my daily dose of learning
take care

bajaman, you mean like this? :The soft switching wouldn't be done with optocouplers by chance??
Omnicraft GT-4A Noise-Gate schematic
A real tricky circuit....that needs years of development
baja, why are you so clever ? - I never would have found out this idea ....

People have been doing that to switch channels in amps for years....analogguru wrote:bajaman, you mean like this? :The soft switching wouldn't be done with optocouplers by chance??

Really ?People have been doing that to switch channels in amps for years....
Do you mean that the little squares in this Fender Twin Reverb II schematic and this Rivera Knucklehead schematic are used for noiseless switching and this idea could be stolen - "back to the future" - from today´s booteekers ORIGIN designs ? incredible....

Well... Ampeg was using it to switch the distortion circuit in the V9 on and off, way back in 1975..
