but FSB will be back soon:

...faster servers
...unlimited bandwith
...more electronic action
...more degooping
...better information interfacing (at last!)
...more wiki development
...more community interaction :thumbsup

We have somehow manage to miss celebrating freestompboxes.org 2nd birthday on June 17th but was too busy myself. Catching up now...

thanks for your patience.

ps don't know how long this message will be readable, because will have to close down the forum for smooth backuping.

Hourra, FSB is back !
Thanks to modman, who worked hard for several days to get the forum back online ! :applause:

I read the whole story there : http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuse ... =485829751
I think that the indelicate ISP deserves a good ol' internet bashing, to let the people know how little they know about what is legal and what is not, and how disrespectful of their customers they are. :horsey:
I only give negative feedback.

The fact is that I've download a full backup of the website to my harddisk and my USB keyring, so we will never go away. I wasn't expecting the new host to drop us so fast, just into the weekend. We are now rehosted to a second new host.

In fact the copy that started on this server is still sitting on the old one. The bottom line is that a hosting company can and will drop you like a brick if they think you're too hot too handle.

I guess this is how you learn about proper backuping etc, I was lucky because while backuping from the old server to my harddisk, that one went down too (until the next day) and for a while I had lost 50% of the data. luckily the old server came back online.

For now, we are fine, I hope we've had our little GFOS 'Get up, Get down' for this month...

i'll be back

Yeah, we got down some more...
Update to 3.0.5 which was a mess was complete by completely reinstalling the forum software from almost scratch. Still these bugs - you cannot start a new thread, moderators cannot move...

Found the fix earlier, but had to update to 3.0.5 before the SQL patch could be installed.
I'll try to keep it short.

Hey I feel for you Johan. I work in IT and SQL is my least favorite monster. I hate it.

We once went an entire weekend without our database (I work at a bank!) and it was not pretty. The backup tapes were locked in a vault that was on a timer that wouldn't open until Monday morning. So that was only half the battle.

Once we could get into the vault, then we had to start restoring the backups and hoped we had a good one! It was good, but I was never so nervous.
