Hi,

In a circuit where the opamp is set up to induce distortion (ie the Rat), what would the effect of decreasing the BIAS-R to the Vref pin of the opamp be, as opposed to simply increasing the voltage to the whole circuit? I ask because I'm working on a Rat build, which I've found I particularly like the sound of at 18V (a noticeable loss of 'sag'), and I'm wondering if the same effect could be achieved through simply changing the bias of the LM308. I'm aware that the opamp takes the full voltage as well as the Vref; however I'm thinking maybe the bias current is the bottleneck here?

(If my wording hasn't already made it obvious, I have a musician's understanding of electronics, as opposed to an electrical engineer's. As such, any help would be greatly appreciated.)
