Excuse me if this is a stupid question, I've a lot to learn (esp using ICs & not simpler transistors & valves). But I was looking at using the lm13700 in place of the ca3080 (to build a Ross/dyna comp unsuprisingly).

I was curious though if you could use both op amps in the 13700 in parallel in place of the ca3080. I've some idea of the use and benefits of valves in parallel. I was just curious if anyone had tried using a lm13700 in parallel... it feels a bit wasteful to only employ half of it.

How about a dual compressor? Use one half of the LM13700 for a ross and the other for a dyna-comp... That's what i'd do ;)

That's a nice, simple idea that hadn't occurred to me, thanks  (If I had the lm13700 on its own board and connected to each circuit by flying leads I wouldn't even have to come up with a new layout)

:D  It's Iggy Pop & James Williamson from around the time of the Kill City recordings (which JW remastered and was only properly released in 2010 incidentally; well worth getting if you've heard and like the earlier releases that were just demos really). I don't know who the derriere belongs to though :)

Occurred to me that both compressors in a box wld be a Dyna Ross... :block:

Do something with the other half. Stereo for the price of mono for example. Do not connect em parallel. Parallelling opamps is something some DIY-ers do because somewhere online someone claims superior sounds. Anyone with a decent engineering mind will understand a) it's bullshit and b) asking for trouble.
Sorry. Plain out of planes.
