Ramp + Hold vs. Sample + Hold

Okay, what effect would ramp + hold be?
Anything like a glide control?
Oh, and anytime I see a "multiplexer" circuit in a datasheet, to us its an octaver, yes? I know you can tune the output freq.

Not necessarily. A "multiplexer" can be a multi-way digital switch or can be a way of switching between multiple analogue inputs. The 4053 is called a "multiplexer" in some data books. It's actually just a digitally controlled analogue changeover switch (like the 4066 but with changeover outputs),chicago_mike wrote:

"Why is it humming?" "Because it doesn't know the words!"

Gotcha, Ive seen them used as switches for loops and stuff.
Here is the little schematic in question. I see its using a 74HC74 and thought oh, an octaver of sorts. Or "tweakable" to be an octaver.

The datasheet for the LM13700 has that. Its figure 20.
