Right, so i'm about to embark on the mother of all salvage fuzz projects... A green russian BMP

"In Russia, pedal salvages you..."

Only thing i have left to find is the diodes. I have 1 x 1N4148, but i need 4. I have 14 mystery diodes sitting here. Is there any way i can identify them, or, if it doesn't really matter what diodes i use, could i use LED's?

If you have conventional silicon diodes.. they should be fairly similar.. check the Vf if you can with a multimeter.
The LEDs will work but will be quite different to a 1N4148 or similar.

ah! it looks like my DMM will do the trick! so when i switched it to diode mode, and connected the probes to the diode (the one 1N4148 i have(, my reading came up 796. I assume then if i can find 3 others that read 796, or close enough to it (a second one just read 795 and an LED read off the dmm, and turned on lol!) that they'll work just fine??

:thumbsup

That's the reading in mV.
If they're pretty close they'll work fine.
