Hi Rcustoms have you got a layout with the boost there by chance. Nice layout. Although it would be easy enough to just vero the boost section but the boost as far as i understand lets you use it as a fuzz pedal to a degree.

I built this one yesterday using the vero-layout by Hewie.
It's my first attempt at vero, and it fired up at first try :) It sounds awesome! Tight and aggressive, and it's very quiet as well. Nice!

I've made a 1590a layout.. I think it's right.. I built it and I get high gain sounds, but it's sounding a lil farty at times.. I think (hope) that it's something other than this pedal cos I'm getting the same result on a bsiab I made too so could be dodgy (car) speaker in my ruby is finally gone, or something else... all the controls do what they say though :blackeye

the orange and green are jumpers, and red is 9V, brown is 'B' just for my reference

(note the version numbers between the PCB and layout are different, but the only change was R10 value, not layout as such. thanks to slash555 for pointing that out :blackeye :thumbsup )

Hi rocklander,

does your layout have the boost section within it????? Iam hoping to get a verified pcb layout of one with boost. The boost is the whole attraction to this pedal as far as i can see otherwise its basically the same as any other overdrive pedal i don't see what the point is building it without the boost. But hey I am a bass player that probably answers it.

no sorry, it's sans boost... I dunno how I'd fit that in there too

so is it the boost that drives it into insane high gain?.. cos that 'dr boogie' kinda insanity is what I was hoping for...

Well yeah cause as far as i understand it goes before the rest of the unit and just kicks it into overdrive insanity. Basically you have active filters in the next lots so you have full control over it. I can't fathom why you would build one without it. Not having a go at anyone it's just my thoughts.

plugged my one into my proper amp and it works fine.. not sure what I as experiencing on the ruby, but into my jansen bassman 50 is sounds great. it's 'different' from the dr. boogey (which I think I prefer for the sound I'm after) but will be close enough I think. now I just gotta wait for some 9mm pots to arrive :|

I went gigging with mine last night in Berlin, and it's absolutely amazing! I wish i could thank for it twice... I'ts grainy, chunky rythms and smooth leads at the same time. Highly recommended!

Is that another one without the boost section? Any pcb designs out there with boost. This pedal is the same as the others without it.

I built mine with tl072's and it sounds killer ;) Got back from the studio yesterday, and the new demo we recorded is tracked with Triple Wreck on one side and Dominator on the other. I'll post it here asap...

Good afternoon. On the first photo (pag 1 - taken by mrkaploca) of this topic i can see 2 transistors (top left and bottom center), but on Eisy’s schematic (pag 4) i just see 1. Where’s the another one? The schematic is working perfectly? I want to build the full version with the jrc4580dd. Thanks.
