hello people of planet freestompbox..

i mean .. the original schematic of triple wreck is using 3 dual op amps..i saw it ..my question is ..is there a pcb trace or layout here i could use for my build using that 3 dual op amps. Not that schematic with quad op amp...this is not a trick question..

thank you..

keep building fellows until your cabinet full of it..

In that thread, all of the layouts except one use dual opamps as far as I know. I am confused by your question... Do you mean a specific model of opamp? They all have the same pin-out so they are swappable.

You would have to be careful with orientation so they are not reverse polarized. It would work fine.

MullisMan wrote:Here are my eagle .brd and .sch files. There's also a partslist for ordering. This hasn't been verified yet but it should work no problem. I don't know about squealing from the high gain circuit, and some things can get kinda tight in the layout.

how i can read your file? when i downloaded your files it appears in different view ..i want your pcb layout of your triple wreck so i can build it.. but i cant see where? can you show me it in pdf only with pcb layout only?

thanks..

i got an issue :( there is an output but no gain? what could be the possible problem?
i use 1uF monolithic capacitor instead of film and linear potentiometer

i wanna thank everyone on this thread that made the effort to trace and make the layout :applause:

just finished my clone(finished pedal pics+clips soon if it won't die on me when putting it in the box ...).
first vero build and i swear to god it is going to be the last one
only PCB from now on.

i come from a tube background and built tube pedals and tube amps.
this is such a different experience...
the vero is so tiny...
i messed up not mirroring the layout to the component side :slap:
it is then i realized i will have to solder the opamp sockets on the strip side.
at first it didn't work but then i traced the problem to a resistor touching another one which shorted the opamps.
i used the hewie layout.

i'm a very happy noob builder :horsey:

It says at 00:11 in the movie: Les Paul Trad 2012 > Total Wreck > JCM800 2204 clone > Marshall 425A cab > SM57 > Focusrite Scarlet 2i4.

thanks everyone for the warm compliments!

the amp is a JCM800 2204 clone i built:
myrig2013.jpg
leftfingaz:
i used the hewie layout.
about the opamps.
i was so surprised to hear a difference between each opamps
i mean, shouldn't they all sound similar? :hmmm:
first i tried with JRC4558 on all positions.it was warm but lack a bit of bass.
then i tried TL072 on all positions.alot of bass but very harsh.
tried also TL082,sounded better than TL072 ha? shouldn't they be the same?
tried different variations and ended up with TL072 in IC1 JRC4558 in IC2 TL082 in IC3.

All opamps should sound the same more or less (theoretically exactly the same) when they opreate in linear mode (buffer, or low gain for example).

Here they operate in very non linear mode with several violations of operating parameters (e.g. common mode input range, differential input voltage range, clipping, etc...) so they sound different because they each have a different way to sort that mess according to their topology and type of semi-conductor.

thank you, that's very informative.
so basically they have different way of handling stress

Here's my layout for the Triple Wreck, complete with 3PDT breakout board (for switches and LEDs) which connects to the main board with a 6 conductor ribbon cable. Fits in a 1590BB perfectly.

Probably the most brutal distortion I have ever built/used. It does have a bit of squeal say past 90% on the gain pot, but that is to be expected for a pedal that has a ridiculous amount of gain. I have extra boards if anyone is interested, hit me up.

HIT! ;) Awesome looking build man ;) How much for the board set, and where are you located?

Agreed, that's a really nice build. Also interested depending on price/shipping/etc.
