Catalinbread - Pareidolia Harmonic Mesmerizer

Just got this one in the mail today, so far I count 4 x 2n5484, 2 x 2n5457, and some smd chips, a tl072, a 2206d and a 78m09 regulator. Trace may take a while it's a pretty crammed layout.

Ouch! :) Pretty crammed on the top side, huh?

Definitely more complex than I thought it was!

Can you please post a parts list? (I'd like to place my order soon, as shipping from Thailand takes sooo long...)

I assume you're planning to do a vero layout? That's going to be BIG

I've got some already drilled 1590BB enclosures from other projects...

-----------

other question: How can a 7809 work in a circuit that is powered with only 9V?
But wait, does it really use a 9V power supply? The datasheet says that the supply range of the XR-2206 is 10 to 26V.

maybe there's a v-doubler inside? On the top side of the board?

no doubler it seems(there is sa picture of both sides of pcb  )
Pedal has battery snap...How can 9v regulator work with battery voltage which usually is below 9 V?

Ok, parts list as requested, I should start every trace like this.

Pots: 1Mc rate, 10Kb depth, 500Ka volume
Chips: xr2206d, tl072, 78m09
Diodes: 1n4007, two 1n4148, dual orange/green led
Transistors: Q1, Q2, Q4, Q5 are 2n5484, and Q3, Q6 are 2n5457
Caps:
c1 47uf
c2 47uf
c3 270p
c4 .1
c5 .0022
c6 .1
c7 2.2uf
c8 47uf
c9 .1
c10 .0047
c11 .1
c12 2.2uf
c13 1uf
c14 1uf
c15 100uf
c16 4.7uf
c17 1uf

Resistors: 9x 1M, 6x 10k, 4x 1k, 100k, 4.7k, 22k, 240r, (23 in total including the four hidden under the input jack).

I ordered a couple of xr2206cp chips from ebay which should be the functional equivalent in a dip package so I can compare to the original. The cap numbers are straight from the board. I'm sure you can use a 1ma pot as well, just wired backwards instead of the c tapered one.

Perhaps the regulator is purely there for the DC input. It may run "raw" off a 9v battery however the DC in might be higher and be regulated down to 9v?

I didn't know about this pedal, but I am glad to see someone tackling this project. I have a friend with the old Fender amp with this odd tremolo circuit and I love it. It is completely unique, and sounds great. The videos I have now seen of this pedal all have an overwhelming throb in the low end that seems out of balance. Hopefully the circuit either doesn't sound like that in person, or can be modified to have a more balanced frequency response.

I'm pretty stoked to see further progress on this. Demo sounds lush.

@madbean: Will you offer a pcb for this one?
I think of putting the Pareidolia and your version of Bajamans Trembulator in one 1590BB enclosure...

No, I'm just interested in how it works, not cloning it. Sorry :(

I had a customer amp build that was priority, should get to this next week sometime.

if we get through this, I'd consider having some PCBs made for it. Perhaps with some modifications as well.

Cool! But could this be 7805 regulator(it is not so visible on the image,or it is sanded out ? ).

Nope, it says 78m09b for sure, I haven't looked at that section at all to see how it works with a battery though.

2206D (as in XR-2206D) is a function generator. That's most likely their LFO

Interesting:

http://electroschematics.com/6191/tremo ... t-circuit/

The 2206 datasheet says it needs at least 10v to operate in single-supply setup.
