Krinkle, could you post pictures of the SS-2 that you have?
Here;

Ones I downloaded from an eBay auction. I've been looking all over the internet but can't find any others.

Here is the only 2 other pictures that I have. One is a SS-2 G-2 duplex pedal, on the right side there is SS-2. Second shows one of the effects boards and there is a SS-3 next to green double potentiometer.

Thanks for sorting this one out MWichni and Johnno. Finished this one using IvIarks buffer and Sabro's layout. Would like to ask a question--Does anyone know the difference between the 1n270's that are clear glass and the all black ones with the grey band? Cheers, Benno

Hi, nice work Tinkerman. Have you compared the tone to the ss-2 samples on youtube? How it sounds for you?
Regards.

It sounds great to me, pretty much spot on. I've tried both 1n34's and 1n270's, which I think I prefer. Have some different types on the way, hope they have a low Forward voltage. Thanks again.

Thanks for the kudos but I had no part in this at all, it is all Mwichni's hard work.

Would be interested to know if yours has enough bottom end ?, mine seems a bit lacking now after using it live, could be the buffer do you think? Thanks :hmmm:

It has enough for me but in not into huge bottom end. Try raising the values of C1 and C6 that should help you get what you are looking for.

You can also try to replace 470nF capacitor with some higher one 680nF or even 1uF.

Thanks guys. Ended up making another pedal true bypass, using 1n695 Ge diodes. Sounds the goods now, really happy with it. Thanks for tracing MWichni. Curious to know what C5 does as it is not present in Skrydstrup schem.

No problem, I just always wanted to build and play that SS-2 pedal. About the capacitor, do you mean the one which shortens the potetniometer to ground (4.7nF)? If yes then it adds high frequencies in highest drive settings.

HI,

Can someone repost the schenatic? The one on the end of page three is no longer there.

Not sure but it's plenty to make it sound the way you want with your rig.

Everyone keeps saying this is the same thing as a Cornish SS-2...
where is the verified schematic of an actual SS-2 to compare this to?

I agree. I would like to see a verified schematic as well.
