D*A*M - BUZZOTRON  [traced]

Bam!

Here's mighty Buzzotron - new D*A*M take on Buzzaround with small changes in circuit:
- 470K bias resistor upped to 680K
- added small 220pF cap on Q1 between base and colector
- cap between darlington pair and Q3 lowered to 2.2uF instead 4.7uF
- 100nF in output section bumped to 220nF
- in some units 10K in output section was changed to 33K for better sweep
- 1nF could be also increased to something between 2n2 to 4n7 for more low end (but I cant' see cap value)
- diffrent values of resistor on Balance pot - 22K to 27K

Trannies are of course rare NKT213 :)

I'm not sure of characteristic of pots, but usually linear could be used with good results.
Some guys recommended 100K reverse log as Sustain.

I got more versions comming - small vero that will fit 1590B and classic tagboard for sure. Will post them later.
For beggining layout using big veroboard.

Here's nice review and samples.

Sme pics and gut shot of first Buzzotron.
Truly beaufitul work!

And here's another gut shot of red unit (second one) with shown 33K in output section instead standard 10K.
Resistor on Balance pot increased to 27K.

Great work!

What about a small version with negative ground and npn transistors? Would be really useful... 2n1302 work great to replace nkt213 and they are easily available.

No problem. Will post later today!

OK, here it is. Three varations of the same layout (based on D*A*M Fuzz Sound Jr BTW...).
One negative, and two positive layouts with few different component sizes. As filtering 47uF cap can be used radial type easily.
Trannies could be mounted using sockets, so it should be easy to find best sounding trio :)

Peace!

Just last one. I promise! :blackeye
This one is for WIMA or Panasonic film caps with 5mm raster.

Draw it. B. described in the first post, what's different from a buzzaround, and you've got the layout as well. Should take you 5 minutes...

Three minutes in MS Paint using Madbean's Bumblebee schemtic :)
Changes vs. Buzzaround/Bumblebee in red.

Is that a pedalenclosures Prism enclosure? If so, that's the first time I've seen a finished build look smokin!

I think so, but it those bigger ones -Prism II are not made anymore unfortunately :(

Can anybody explain why the 4.7uF off of Q2 was reduced to 2.2uF?

Probably because they had a big stock of 2u2 capacitors. It won't make any difference to the sound!
