I built a McMeat two years ago. A monster of a filter! Very pleased with the results.

I also did some mod's but I don't remember exactly how they was done, one made the "Color" control much more responsive along the way. The other was about to add the Tremulus Lune LFO to the center frequency of the filter, kind of cycling wahwah.

I didn't use the proper already made optocouplers, so I did them with LED + LDR covered with some thermo-retractil tube.

The looping chain is a very useful thing too as you can use some dynamics-killing effect (like a fuzz or a compressor) and the McMeat envelope detector will follow the unprocessed signal envelope.

I think there was an error or two on Pisotones site regarding one rotary switch wiring and a resistor that was forgotten in the detection section. aside this, it's a marvellous tutorial.

Quite looking forward to building this, a change from overdrive and fuzz overkill! Do you know if the errors you mentioned are corrected in the mcmeat.pdf attatchment on this thread?

Some of the components aren't mounted on the PCB though; maybe that was the "error"

As MarcoMike said: you can follow the .pdf with no fear!

I think the attention must be on the off wiring and remember that some components are not PCB mounted.

IMHO, this project worthes all the effort.

I've built mine per the PDF and it worked out very well.
It's a very cool project .

To those of you who've built the McMeat: what kind of enclosure did you use?

I've built my own with bended alluminum.

I think I'm going to use toggle switches instead of the Lovetone's rotaries. (Got the idea here: http://www.martoneaudio.com/meatwad.htm) Anyone know what type to get? I know there are 2 with 3 positions and 2 with 2 positions, I just don't know if I need SP3T & SPDT or what. Also, one of the build reports I saw had some caps across some of the poles of the range knob, wasn't sure if I was seeing that correctly or how to apply that to a toggle switch. i built mine into a 1590bb - had to leave off the true bypass switch due to lack of room

imo the pedal is way overcomplicated and difficult to use. imo you would be much better off making the MuTron III - RG did a pcb for it - same sound, much better control.
