Ok - motorboating resolved. there was a tiny strand of copper bridging a couple of track - this is probably also why my mix control was working backwards also suspect it had to do with the battery leads running parallel to the inputs+outputs. mine is now fully operational, and sounded great on bass last night.
anyway, having owned an original P&C I can say FSB have totally nailed it! thanks everyone!

Hello, great looking build!cornocopius wrote:VERIFIED!
This is fully working and sounding awesome! Brink's layout is ace and easy to build... all my previous posts about it not working were my errors in not grounding the circuit properly and having the reverse log pot wired the wrong way round...
A highly recommended build...
Could you tell me what switches you used for the Lo-Freq and Guitar/Bass? I'm a little confused on how the switching works for this thing (on/off or on/on, SPDT?).

You only need a SPST as the different options are achieved by either closing those points or just leaving them open
Let me know how you get on with yr build!

Awesome! Thank you, and I'll let you know how it goes.
Okay, it's not boxed up yet but it seems to be working fairly well. I had one long ago, and from memory it sounds like my original.
My question is, if I have the mix at 100% dry but the drive up, it still get some distortion. Is that normal for a P&C? I forget how the controls work.

Hey man, it's 1.9 inches square, so pretty small and v.easy to buildrosetta wrote:hey cornocopius, how big is this PCB? wanna try it.
cheers.

Hey everyone,
Been looking to see if someone would clone me a P&C!
PM me, if interested.
Thanks,
Chris

I'm building this on vero and was gonna go off this layout, but what's with the 4M7 Resistor? (2nd from left lower left corner?)Brink wrote:Here is my latest vero
(mods, feel free to delete previous posts and this sentence)
Seems like none of the other schems or traces from the circuit have this part?
Is this vero verified as working and if so why the extra resistor? (Have done a quick check of the layout vs the schems and the rest seems fine)

It's a pulldown resistor, check out http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/box_pop.htmdrewberryelectronics wrote: I'm building this on vero and was gonna go off this layout, but what's with the 4M7 Resistor? (2nd from left lower left corner?)
