most likely Panasonic. But they're standard metalized polyester film caps, you won't hear any difference if you use cheaper ones. You don't need any "hifi" or mojo parts. Don't forget that the purpose of an overdrive circuit is to mistreat the signal...
The fact that a self appointed pedal guru uses certain parts is totally irrelevant. It only proves that they look sexy/expensive/whatever... The Panasonics have two real advantages if you want to mod an existing pedal: They are very small and they have long legs, so you can use them even if the spacing of the holes in the pcb is different.

AD712JN
AD712KR
AD712JR
AD712KN
I can use any of the project?

It's always a safe bet that it doesn't matter what the end letters are in a pedal. I buy mine from Newark. http://www.newark.com/analog-devices/ad ... omparatorsandregarcia57 wrote:there are differences between the AD712?

What is the manufacturer of this capacitors those red in the picture? they are very similar to those used analogman or robert keeley.
Thanks
what is the diode GE? D1, D2 or D3?
in the photo are two BAT41 and one GE, I see right?

I don't know if it's correct, but you have to really hate tubes to use them that way! Anodic tension = 9 volt and no cathode resistors/cap...
i would stick with the first version, the germanium diode is D2.

he did. and i linked to the changes. I haven't seen a correct schematic for this. But the changes seem pretty slight to be able to adopt the existing version1 schematic.okgb wrote:Sorry I thought he was talking about the II version
Hey MKB,
First, let it be said that I have only built a couple of stompboxes..but in 40+ years of 'spanking the plank' in every conceivable type of band, I have owned/played/borrowed a bunch of gear. Also, have not ever played a Dumble. I do own and use, 70's era MXR Distortion +, Newer OCD+, '72 Marshall 50W, '71 Twin Reverb, and a butt-load of digital effects. Loud rock bands, Swing bands, Country-Prog-Jazz-rock-Blues, you know the drill...
That said -regarding your request: "If anyone knows of such a thing.."
I recently built an 'umble' from Runoffgroove ( http://www.runoffgroove.com/umble.html).. I really like it. Good tonal range, from just sorta boosted, to touch-sensitive saturated distortion with chirpy harmonics.... Has a full tone-stack. I have found myself using it at lower gain settings pretty much all the time to shape the tone of whatever I am plugged into at the moment. In fact am going to build a second so I can switch between 'rawish-not-really-crunched-out-but-ballsy' - and full-on boosted-distortion...
Some reviewers have stated that they found it 'noisy'...Mine is about as noisy as my OCD at similar volumes/settings. You may want to scope it out..
Just saying...
I am planning to do a Z-drive next, so its not like my G.A.S. has disappeared or anything, but I like the umble....
Cheers,
Matt Powell

Just built a Zendrive using Rick Holt's layout, AD712 IC, 2x BAT41 and 1x1N34A (which is quite different from using a 1N60 BTW), and it sounds *really good* and is very quiet, so thanks to everyone who cooperated in making this project possible

Just a heads up:
I built the v.1 today using HBO's layout: http://www.sabrotone.com/?p=755
I used 1n34a's instead of bat41's and a lm833 - sounds awesome! way better than the kit from musikding i built a year ago...

hello guys ...
any idea to add a switch mid boost in zendrive?

Hello!
I have built the Zendrive now using the layout on this thread.
I tried with different IC's, but the best sound I got with the OPA2134 and instead of 2N7000, I used BS170.
The sound of my pedal is very close to thenoriginal Zendrive.
