light blue squares i get not voltage

yellow stars I get voltage but 0 on the rest of that side of the chip

Quick Update....I now have experience with 3 of these breaking

1) Bought used off Chicago Music Exchange.....worked for 45min and then the drive side would not function no matter what (not the switch issue that some Bogners suffered from). CME was great and did a full refund

2) Bought used off Guitar Center which shipped it to my home and I included the 2 year insurance. Arrived absolutely dead....would not take wall or 9v power. Brought it to the Times Sq GC. While there they offered to give me a deal on the last new one they had in stock....

3) Literally the guy at GC get the new in box LG and goes to pull it out of the foam it is surrounded by and the drive footswitch lifts up with only the mechanism behind it preventing it from falling out (as if nothing was attached). We both looked at each other and realize I was almost sent home with yet another broken La Grange.

Listen...things happen. I could just be unlucky. Just dont buy one without a good way to get you money back if it dies quick.

Having talked to Bogners repair dept you will essentially pay $60 for replaced boards + shipping there and back.

All that said....the 45mins I did have with one was sublime and I may take a stab at an insured #4.....ugh

Well, looks like i'm one of the unlucky ones. I bought the Bogner LaGrange off Reverb and used it for a few weeks in my Boss ES-5 switcher. Never had any troubles, but I mostly used the switcher to turn it on and off. LaGrange sounded great, but ended up selling on Reverb because I just don't use that kind of tone often. Turns out, the buyer said the Drive side went out shortly after receiving the item (showed me a video of it) and is returning it to me for a refund. Frustrating....

Did a tear down on mine to troubleshoot the 'no drive' channel issue. So far, I've found it's related to the input not passing the signal on to the Exp. Input section when Drive is engaged. You can plug into the Exp. input and you get the Drive side...albeit not sounding quite right but it does pass signal this way. Digging in further, but any suggestions are welcome.

Should be an ez fix then. Sounds like the jack is damaged.

Wish it was that simple...Input jack works (passes signal) when pedal is either bypassed or boost only is engaged.

Since you get signal when inserting the guitar in the Exp (which is not meant for that, but a good test) and the boost only works, you should check the opa132 and/or the ICL7660S that should be delivering the -9V to the OPA132.

Thanks, will try that next. Was having a heck of a time finding that little bugger! (OPA132)

Drive side engaged:

OPA132
pin 2 - 6.68v
pin 3 - 6.74v
pin 4 - 7.27v
pin 6 - 8.18v (varied depending on where volume and gain knobs were set)
pin 7 - 8.82v
pin 8 - 8.73v

7660's coming....

7660 U1
pin 1 - 9.42v
pin 2 - 5.12v
pin 3 - 0
pin 4 - 0
pin 5 - .16v
pin 6 - 2.55v
pin 7 - 1.44v
pin 8 - 9.16v

And at that point it started smoking...literally.
EDIT: ITL7660 very hot to the touch and smoking...too much voltage here I would say?

I hope pin 4 is -7.62V and not +7.62V as the OPA132 is using +9V on pin 7 en -9V on pin 4.

Pin 5 on the 7660s feeding the OPA132 should be -9V! the other 7660 (or LT1054) should have about 8V

I'm sure you are correct...bad vision on my part.

Using a One-Spot adaptor 9.42 Volts tested good.

How am i missing the 2nd 7660 (or LT1054)...? There is a MAX1044 in IC1...?

measure pin 5 on that max1044 it should be around -9V

pin 5 on that max1044 was +8.3v

pin 4 on OPA132 is verified +7.62V

*(everything I've tested all seem to be positive voltage)

Then there is a high change you got a defective max1044. Try to replace it.
