New Vertex Stuff. Anyone open any of them up?

Postby jonnyxjuturna » 02 Feb 2018, 19:29

Just curious if Mason is still up to his old chicanery. Or is he really building stuff these days?

I read an article where he apologizes and then stated that all his pedals are made in an assembly house in batches. Not sure if they are clones or not though.

Interesting. i wonder if the new Ultra Phonix OD is a variation of the same basic design. It's also being marketed as a Dumble sim.

I went to the Vertex website to read more about the Steel String Clean Drive. Lots of comparisons to "D" style tones, but no mention of either Jack Orman or Aron Nelson.

Seems like a good idea from a marketing standpoint.

I figured he was ripping someone's circuit. At least this time (maybe) he isn't slapping his sticker on someone else's pedal?

To be frank, I have zero interest in buying his stuff. I'm just curious, because it seems the boutique world has so quickly forgotten his old tricks, and he seems to be getting recognition again.

the guy is just a marketing freak,he brainwashes the "artists" with PNL and a good check, that's all, this battery box was already in other pedalboards of these guys made by Bradshaw and Dave Phillips i guess.
His boost is just a standard boost, nothing special.
As far as D sounds, make it play to any good aforementioned pro and he's gonna make it sound like you want it to sound, its like that, since almost nobody has ever played a real SSS in reality.
