... maybe it's already posted ...

Someone stated it's a Marshall '92-Bluesbreaker pedal with Schottki-diodes.

Guts:

http://www.analogman.com/kot/insideno1.jpg

Seem to be a very simple circuit.
AM state that it is not TS-based but it has some sort od diode clipping as there are dip-switches for different number od diodes for sym and asy clipping.

if anyones got one, id be happy to reverse it for them :)

cheers

Probably OD250ish hard clipper with some other fancy stuff.

BUMP!

For years my buddy has raved to me about what a fine pedal the KOT is with his Blackface Deluxe. Unfortunately, he lives on the other side of the continent and he really isn't capable of dismantling a pedal! He does have great ears and has been through a boatload of pedals over the years.

I can't say firsthand, but another pedalbuilder that i know had mentioned it was two cascaded tubescreamer circuits. Whether or not that is speculation or he reversed it, I don't know.
FYI.

Link to a V2? KOT gut shot that I pulled off of ebay some time ago...

The KOT (newest version, V4 maybe?) is two original Marshall Bluesbreakers in one box. There are DIP switches to change the diode config.

Mystery solved!

Build a BB and add a switch to go one pair of 1N914, 4x 1N914 or none. Now copy that X2 in one box.

And this statement is based on?

Well, IMO from fuzzca's pic which is V2? it doesn't appear as though it would be a BluesBreaker circuit but, I don't know.......
burchtone claims V4? is a BB circuit........
There appears to be quite a bit of confusion about all of this.

Try Shottky diodes in the clipping stage.

The guts of one.

You can choose to trust me or not. You decide.

It's really has nothing to do with trust. The reason I ask is because KT66 claims to have RE'd the circuit and I believe he said it was original and not a clone. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

Burch did you get time to reverse it yourself?

Yep, I got down to the diode switching and quit. At that point is was obvious to me what it was. I could be wrong, but I really doubt it. The topography of the circuit is too close to the BB to be chance. There are two complete overdrives in the V4 KOT.

Maybe I have inhaled too much vaporized lead and flux, but keep this in mind:

It's a dual-sided board. Maybe some folks are only seeing one side of the board.

If my friend (the owner of the pedal) says it's OK, I'll post photos of each side. Then maybe someone else can RE it and we'll compare notes.

Cool. I'll get a mail in to my friend to make sure it's alright to show some KOT shots. I'll try to get back Monday or Tuesday.

BTW, thanks to all of you for freely sharing.
